Ok so I'm new to following golf as a spectator as the addiction hit me in Sept 08. He's my favorite player amongst a lot of other players I like to watch. Anyhow, I don't really blame him for losing to Oliver Wilson as he shot freakin -7 under thru 17 while AK was -4 under through 17. Tough luck to run into someone who was looking to shoot a 64 or 65 when you may shoot a 67-68 BUT:
Other than Mercedes where he couldn't find his putter...else he may have charged at Ogilvy what's been going on? In Malaysia he was awful on day 1 not able to read the greens and make his putts, and managed to finish just ok.
Then at Johnnie Walker he blows up a 9 and a 6 to demolish 3 days worth of good playing.
Oh and the missed cut in the US at the FBR.
Now I only ask this because he is supposed to be this huge rising star...and there is talk of him having the "it factor." Is he overrated? Even if he is he is still my favorite player but I want to know what people who have followed golf think. Just wondering if people think he is slumping or just overachieved last year...
Feel free to discuss other players who disappointed so far too...All this info helps me with my fantasy golf

You guys expect a lot. Last year he was streaky. Most guys aren't in contention every week and he seems to be struggling with the putter. He will win at least once worldwide this year.

Don't forget to put spoiler in the title so those of us who haven't watched it yet aren't caught by surprise... i kinda figured from the title that he must have lost and I'm not upset at all, just saying ...

You can expect EVERYONE to be pretty unreliable on a week-in week-out basis, but at the end of the year to see the best and upcoming players ranked nearer the top. When a golfer wins more than one tournament in a year it's pretty remarkable. When a golfer wins 4 or 5 that's exceptional. Additionally, a lot of really good players are talented at sticking themselves in the top 20 nearly every week - lay observers have a hard time understanding how tough that is.
Be patient with your favorite guys (and gals) on Tour, it's tough out there.

didn't AK have a should injury of some type too in the beginning of the year? he had to withdraw from the bob hope i believe...i guess that doesn't really have much to do with the putter, but i mean, could be rust after not playing you know what they say when you take a break from golf, the short game is the first to leave and the last to come back, but i think he'll be fine, even though he lost, it looked like he played quite well, i saw him make that long putt to win a hole towards the end of the match, not sure if it was an eagle or birdie. i would look for him to be in contention at at least most of the tournaments he plays in this year, should win at least one tournament this year, and hopefully he'll contend in more majors, he did play pretty well at birkdale last year. he's one of my favorite players as well, so i was also a bit confused by his off play, but i'm sure he'll be back to form in the next coming months.

i think he was overrated from the getgo, i was paying more attention to villegas last year when everyone was on the ak bandwagon, villegas is the guy to watch, not kim

He was on the hot list in 2009 predictions
http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index.php?sh...c=213605&hlIMO, the European PGA commitment is a mistake. Although it makes sense from business/promotion standpoint, it will take a toll on his performance.

Yeah I was wondering about that - I've travelled a lot and you don't get so tired right away...but it takes it toll over time and it is a small toll which seems to add up bigtime when you think about it. But he is young (as am i though...) so hopefully he can find his game and be consistently in the hunt in the final round
On a side note man were people predicting big things for him. Hope he comes through and isn't the next overhyped talent. I wonder how he'll fair in Doral with everyone getting an extra week to practice.
