After reading many of the Oakley posts here and checking out their website, I received a crash course on their sunglasses. I played for 30 years without but obviously I'm no spring chicken and wanted to get a little protection.

Went with the Radars with the highly recommended G30 lens. Wore them today and after three holes forgot I even had them on, so I'm very pleased.

Watching some golf on TV today I started paying attention to what players were wearing. Stenson looked like he had Radars and Brendan Jones had flak or half jackets with the larger lens. But it appeared they had a lens other than the rosy G30. Just curious as to what other lens works well for golf and what other Oakley wearers have tried and liked and disliked.

Thank you

I wear my Juliet all the time.
Is G30 that good? How is it reading greens?
Ice works real good bringing the colors down on fairway here in ATL during the summer.
It just doesn't feel right on the green.

I have 2.0 square wires with Fire iridium lenses and I really like them. I have a pair of black Iridium and it's really easy to lose the ball in the air; not so with the fire lens. Work well on the greens and just generally in varying light conditions.

I really liked the G30 for reading greens, like I said, I forgot I had them on. But I also have nothing to compare them to other than cheap, everyday type glasses. It was a mostly overcast day. I have to try them in bright sunshine. According to the Oakley chart, the G30 has a light transmission value of 30%. The Fire Iridium is 16% and the Black Iridium is only 10% (dark) so maybe that is why following the ball in the air was difficult.

Others in the range of G30 (a little darker) and their values
G30 Black Iridium - 25%
Slate Iridium - 23%
Bronze - 22%
Grey - 18%
VR28 Black Iridium - 17%

I think my wire is G30. Not sure tho, but I will try this weekend.

Stenson was using the G30 Black Iridium in his. Some guys will use the VR28 as well but most will use the Black Iridium G30 same as I have on here, as you can see they look much darker than the regular G30's.

Are you kidding??? G30 is one of the best "golf lenses" on the market! man_in_love.gif

Funny...I think BluBlockers were about the same thing for $15, I paid $$$ for my Oakley Golf Array! Shhh...don't tell the wife!

The Fire Iridium lens is good for VERY sunny days. The VR28 is good for cloudy days. I also like the Gold Iridium lens.

I have 8 pair of Half Jackets (yes - it's an addiction I have, but it's better than the alcohol I was addicted to two years ago - but about the same price!). I have HJs because you can change the lens at will, and lenses @$30-80 are great. I just have this neurosis where my frames have to coordinate with my clothes/shoes. russian_roulette.gif

Long live Oakley!!
