Man, can you imagine a convention with the GolfWrx members? We could all get together for some fun, laughs, drinks and especially golf. I would book my ticket first thing.

That would be sweet, I think lots of WRXrs have made the PGA Merchandise show the unofficial WRX convention.

I would agree it would be a blast.
I am doing an outing here in AZ for the AZ guys, and a few of them mentioned doing some ryder cup style matches vs some of the surrounding states which would be fantastic, but an all out Golfwrx trip would be too good to pass up

Really! It'd be almost like a clubs member/member invitational. With all the sponsors/reps we have on here they'd make a killing.

In a WRX outing the money would not be made just by the course but the closest proshop that stocks exotic shafts.

I cant wait till I get fitted and know more about all the intricacies and what nots of the different shafts. All I know is whatever shaft my driver/woods/irons have on them and I try and figure things out from there.

It is a well known fact that So Cal has the best golf simply because you can golf 365 days a year (unless it's downpouring horrible rain).

Seems that with the 75,000 members here you could easily get enough to run regional events....maybe even get one of the putter companies to whip up an event cover or putter/cover combo. I would certainly be interested in an Ohio event.....as long as I don't have to plan it.

Let me know if you need any help. Being in the pro shop, I've helped put on a few events at my club so I know the ins/outs of tourney events.

OK...I live in Indy, as do several of us on this board. Anyone up for a "Great Lakes" or "Midwest" event? I'd be more than happy to touch base with the Indy Golfers (hint, hint, Shane!) and put our state's top 5/10 up against any other surrounding states (i.e, Illinois - can you say Cog Hill?; Ohio - Longerberger, are you still out there?; Kentucky - can we get on at Vallhalla?).
For public courses, we have The Fort (Pete Dye), Kampen (Pete Dye), Purgatory, Brickyard Crossing, etc. I've been north-to-south.....thanks to a well-off father.....and we have all the courses anyone else can offer.
How about a poll of every states' Top 5, and may the "best" course win. Sorry...I love my local muni (Pleasant Run - props to Denny Ford) but they don't qualify in this horse race!
What'd ya say???

Actually, I live in Oregon, and although JD is great, and the south has some great alcohol, the craft whiskey out here, as well as the Blended (Pendelton) is pretty good, and can hold it's own....
Now socal, they have a tough time making anything but gang fights and car chases any good. (I am just kidding)

Why not set up a poll of the various regions and how far everyone would be willing to drive or fly... that'll give everyone a good idea of where the "center of gravity" of the membership is...
Just a thought- I'd go, but I'd want to drive instead of fly- that limits me to a local 4 state region in the northeast.

I'd love the event. We could set up a Hogan secret king of the ring cage match. We could have a "WITB Show" kind of like a car show where everyone sets up their clean, shiny, custom paintfilled/finished, exotic shafted clubs for all to see. We could have "Speed Certified" tee times where we can send off groups in quick order to see whether or not all of these claimed 3 hour rounds can be done. And the coup de grace would be a driving range set up to measure distances to get "Golf WRX Distance Certified" so we can avoid all those threads arguing over whether claimed distances are real or fake.

Seriously, it would be nice to mingle with other insanely addicted golfers for a few days. We probably would need a spa near by for all the wives to get pampered and make fun of us though. I can see them swapping stories of how we all think we're getting away with all those long rectangular packages always showing up at the house.

Decent local hotels and eateries are a MUST. I'm not staying in a dump in the boonies just because someone thinks the local course is great...
It doesn't have to be a 5 star resort, but Hilton, Sheraton, Marriot, etc. would be fine. At least business class stuff...
Sorry, I'll shut up now.

This is a pretty awesome idea....though I agree that regional type events would be the best in terms of total traveling. For all the north-east-coasters here....I'd throw out the suggestion of Nemacolin Woodlands Mystic Rock course. Beautiful course, former host of a PGA tour stop (84 Lumber Classic), and completely public. Not a bad trip from OH, MD, WV and such.
