Do people wear black shoes with blue pants or do you only wear black shoes with grey or black pants. I just started to like black shoes and I just wasnt sure.

Personally, I'd go white shoes with blue slacks. Depending on the outfit I'd wear black shoes with black/gray or sometime khaki pants. I'll wear white shoes with anything. Brown shoes only with khaki or brown slacks.

I'll go black with khaki if I'm wearing a black belt and black shirt. Actually a pretty classy look.

I have never liked black golf shoes and when I wore them they never seemed to fit my style. Not even with shorts.
You can wear black shoes with navy dress slacks/suits...but I still don't like this look unless done right. Always match the belt with your shoes, except the white of course.
Some people will say who cares what others think, wear what you want..and this is true, with one BIG but. What do we all like second to golf here? Women, and women pay more attention to these things, so if you want to have one...

First off, I assume were talking about navy blue? If so I agree with bradski for the most part, I wouldn't say black shoes never go with navy trousers, but I think white shoes are a better choice. As a rule of thumb, belts should usually match your shoes. If your not a white belt guy, then go with black. Now on the other hand if your wearing a brighter blue, then I think black shoes can look pretty good.

Shorts: all white, white saddle or brown only. Never black.
Really, if you're going to try to follow fashion rules like no black shoes with navy pants, you wouldn't consider black for anything. Traditionally, black is to be worn only at formal occasions i.e. weddings, funerals, religious ceremonies etc. That means no black shoes or black pants in any other situation including golf.
You make up for it by having several dozen shades of brown(cordovan, burgundy, etc).

Jesus, golf isn't a formal occasion. I like to look good myself out there but to say not to wear anything black is crazy IMO. Many tour pros that are considered very stylish wear black a lot. And I also feel that black shoes with shorts are perfectly fine too if you wear a black belt and black socks. Really don't like the black shoes and white socks thing.

Black/Khaki (i'd rather wear a lighter colour then khaki though...closer to stone), looks quite stylish...but I don't like Tiger's look there, that shirt needs to be straight black.
Navy/White my friend

...i hate wearing navy fullstop though hehe

The only way you can do blue pants and black shoes is with lt. blue pants / sky blue and a solid black shirt.....maybe some white trim on the shirt....possibly a white belt - note: requires low body fat!
Just say "no" to royal blue or darker pants (navy) with black shoes.
Just my humbled opinion

I wear black shoes w navy blue trousers when it's wet out so I don't have mud covering white shoes or light colored trousers. I prefer to wear, if at all possible, shorts w white shoes. Black shoes w shorts makes me ill but some guys pull it off w those socks that only come to the top of shoe.
I was a Joe Namath fan as a kid and have loved white shoes since. Man I'm old!

For me, black shoes and blue trousers (pants) is a big no no. You'd look like a bruise!
The same goes for black shoes and khaki/tan pants. I noticed the picture of Tiger above and while he may well be the greatest player to ever play the game, he only recently seems to be getting the hang of this fashion thing. For someone with his bank balance, those are the worst pair of trousers I've ever seen (and I've just noticed they've got pleats in them!).
As far as shorts go, I would tell you to stay away from traditional style golf shoes. Go for a sneaker/trainer style shoe (Adidas/Nike/Puma) ideally in white and be sure to wear a pair of socks that can't be seen above the ankle.
Some may say that it doesn't matter what you wear but I think it does. Surely it's good to take pride in your appearance wherever you are?

To each his own. But I think some of these posts are just dead wrong.
Navy blue slacks with black shoes is VERY common business/office attire. Almost all casual business attire transfers well to the golf course. White shoes with navy pants? That would be a head turner at the office, and IMO it's only slightly more acceptable on course. I would wear black shoes with Navy, or any shade of blue, every time. I absolutely would not wear white and would hesitate to wear brown, depending on the tone. Black shoes are very common on tour with not only black and grey pants, but blue and brown shades as well.
White shoes work well, IMO, with lighter color pants. Dark shoes look better with darker pants. I only like brown shoes with brown and cream tone pants.
Yes, it's fashionable to match the belt with the shoes, in so much as there in the same color family.

Brown shoes/belt with light gray pants is a standard and classy look for golf or the office.
I personally don't care for navy pants unless they are part of a suit and then you can do either black or brown shoes.
I love black shoes/belt with khaki or sand colored pants - black and tan is classic.

What color shoes would you wear to a job interview with a blue suit? Cordovan doesn't look formal enough for a power suit, IMO. Has to be black. Therefore, it works on the course, too.
Cordovan is a good option for khaki slacks, though.

In some circles, cordovan with dark navy is considered more dressy than black. I don't own a nice pair of cordovan shoes, but wouldn't hesitate to wear that combination to an interview.
Anyway, even fashion-conscious golf is not a job interview. I think we should be a bit more relaxed about our stipulations. Gotta say though, the white belts on Phil and Cink are not doing it for me...

You gotta be thin to wear a white belt, IMHO. I dress my particular way to make myself comfortable......I could care less what others do even though I may have an opinion (which I keep to myself.)

Black or cordovan shoes with a navy blue suit is what you'll find in a formal business setting.
