Hello,
I'll be in Hilton Head The Saturday of the Masters thru that Wednesday. I've never been, but I'm looking for recommendations from those who have been there. I think Harbor Town is out, its too close to the tourney.
I'm going to try and play Chechessee Creek Club. Its looks really great. I love the old style course and am a big Crenshaw fan. Anybody play this one? OP, never mind looks private.
I'm a huge fan of Caladonia and True Blue in Myrtle.
Thanks for your feedback.

Just played Hilton Head National in January. Excellent Gary Player course. Tremendous condition. That would be my first choice. There's a RTJ course there as well (Palmetto Dunes ) that was nice. Hampton Hall (Pete Dye, I believe) was very nice as well, but I think it's semi-private.

Chechessee Creek is a great course if you can gain access. If you are a member at a club have the pro contact some of the private clubs just off the island. Much better golf compared to the publics. Most of the publics/resort courses are solid, if they weren't they wouldn't be around. Ezlinks.com has a few courses on their site. Might want to look into that, half off on greens fees usually. Have a good time HHI is one of my favorite golf spots.

Crescent Pointe Golf Club is really nice... its an Arnold Palmer design. alot of elevation changes and undulating greens.

If you can get on the Melrose course on Daufuskie Island you will have a blast. I think that course is even better than Harbour Town.

I also like Hilton Head National, especially the nine that was designed by Bobby Weed. I also liked the Palmetto Dunes (Arther Hills) design. Awesome carts with air conditioners...nice touch.
Stay away from the courses at Port Royal. Very, very boring.

+1 on staying away from port royal. I live in Port royal and play them only because i can play them for free. The 3 courses at Palmetto Dunes are well maintained and have consistent greens, and the RTJ course as some scenery, and anything at Hampton Hall is the same way. If you can't get on Harbor Town, try Heron Pointe, which is a new Pete Dye design in Sea Pines and shouldn't be affected by the tourney

Thanks everybody, keep em coming. MGaj,how is that Secession golf club? Supposed to be a throwback, looks really nice to me. Have you played it and would you recommend it. ? Ops, never mind, that one is private too. Gotta stop looking at the private ones. LOL.
I just called Sea Pines resort, very nice service, she said Harbor town closed on April 5th until after the tourney. Plenty of openings on the others. I'm gonna do Heron Pt. Thanks!
I think I'll also do the Palmetto RTJ course, or the A. Hills. I'm a fan of A Hills and RTJ. Looks spectacular. Thanks!!!

+1 On going to Dafuskie Island. Well worth the fairy ride and both courses are great.

Played Heron Pointe last year and its a great course. Very challenging though, all the buddies i was playing with were cursing Pete Dye by the end of the day.

I think everybody curses P. Dye after playing one of his courses, if you don't, well, you just didn't have a good time. LOL.

i agree with the poster about the gary player one, that was pretty nice, also like the rtj one at that complex alot! it was the first course i played with the yellow rough green fairway contrast which was cool.(and i shot a 75 in my second round of the year:) wasn't as crazy about the arthur hill one there to be honest. Great shape though.
