My buddies feel that you need the same bag as irons that you use. My dilema is I love the Ping Hoofer bag but I just bought mizuno irons. So what are some ideas on this topic! Also what are any opinions on the Mizuno bags vs Ping bags or any other bags on the market..
ebenn
Who cares!!! I personally play pings and have a Ping bag. But i play the irons because they fit my needs and I use the bag because I like it and it fits my needs.

Mizuno irons = awesome
Ping Hoofer = awesome

Use them both and kick your buddies a@#!

I have a Callaway Staff Bag and use it alot in tournaments because I am on staff with them.

However, I use a Ping Hoofer that I bought from my old college coach when I walk and play day to day.

Ping's double strap is soooooooo much better than anyone elses. I walk alot when I practice so comfort is most important.

I would go for comfort and function over what company is on the side of the bag. Also, I do not use any Ping clubs.

I see alot of people trying to match the bag with their clubs, but I dont see it being necessary.

I have even tried a Callaway Stand Bag but the double strap was soooo uncomfortable that I couldnt use it.

USE WHAT WORKS!!!

Ping has a reputation for quality bags. Although there has been some discussion about the new bags on the market. They sort of stand on there own. (no pun intended)
woods991
I agree with you guys thus far I do not feel the need to match irons to bags I my opinion I found the ping hoofer to be on the top tier above anybody else's.
drgolfaholic
Unless you get paid doing so, in the end it's your money. Spend it as you wish. Who cares what others think?
huy
It doesn't matter one bit. Use whichever bag you like the best regardless of the brand.
Morty17
I have a Ping bag and switched to Titleist irons. I still have not found a bag that I like better that the Ping. I would use the bag that fits you the best.
brad_polish_golfer
i would only have a matching bag and clubs if all my clubs were the same. etc all ping woods, irons, wedges and putter then i would have a ping bag but if not who cares
wholeinwon
Just like everyones said, use whatever bag you feel the best carrying and is going to make your golf game enjoyable.

Who cares if you have a Ping bag and Mizuno clubs, your paying for the bag they aren't paying you...your not on tour, no ones watching just use something to your taste
Greg45
Morty: That's funny because I have Ping irons in a Titleist bag. Just liked that one better.

But seriously: who cares what anyone thinks.
woods991
I agree with all of you guys what are the thoughts about the ping stand bag any feedback? My friends i guess do not know what they are talking about. I have seen great feedback on the Pings and some say on this website they are the best bags of them all again any feedback!
BigLeftyinAZ
I would love to have a bag that matches my irons, but I cant find a Miura stand bag. So, I use a TM bag that matches my Driver and wedges.
sheppy335
you can get any bag you want. if you want one that matches then get it, if you love your hoofer keep it!
rolltide4life
the hoofer in my opinion is the best stand bag out there as far as durability and comfort goes. I have one and its awesome and I play mizuno irons. If its looks your worried about I wouldnt switch only "players" use the hoofer its the best and the best amatuers use it or at least thats what I have seen at all the tournaments I play in.
woods991
not worried about looks it was a conversation with buddies and I figured who better to ask than the golf wrxers. I was wondering if there was a rule of thumb to this topic that is all.
flavaflave
Is this seriously a topic in this forum?
ghromas
the hoofer vantage is the best walking/stand bag out there. do your buddies get their names stitched on their bags while they're not on staff? they sound like douches. play whatever you want and i hope you beat them.
Jacksbearclub
unless you are being paid to carry a certain bag carry what you like the best. I play adams irons and have a TM and a Matrix Staff bag and most of the time carry a Nike stand bag. I do not play one thing Nike anymore but the bag is awesome.
gbloom1
I play mizzuno and carry a underarmor bag , bty best bag I have ever owned well made and lots of pockets!!
gdu
I always like to match my bag to my irons, but that is a personal thing. The Hoofer is a great bag. If it had more dividers and a putter well it might be perfect. Though I did like that pocket plaecment on the old J bags a bit better.
DPackers
I have the Mizuno tour stand bag and absolutely love it. The aeroframe is nice because the bag is actually free of rigidity inside. Also I really like the club dividers, the clubs do not bang around. Still looks brand new. Highly recommend.
greyman09
The only bag I will use is a Ping carry bag. Been using one since I started.
millenium
i do not think it matters about them matching whatsoever................ however you wont ever catch me with my bag not matching my irons ......
mdickson
I"m a Callaway staffer too and also use the Ping Hoofer Vantage without the Ping logo. Best damn carry bag on the market. Wish Callaway would step up on the carry bag side just like they did with the staff bag. Carry bag is the only thing I don't carry thats Callaway. Can't wait for the FT-9 HT to be released!

I use to have a TaylorMade stand bag, and some no name knockoff clubs. In my first few weeks at my old club, someone I was playing with had a look and said to me, "So you have TaylorMade all through the bag?" Uh, no. And it was a while before someone clued me in as to why that question was even asked.

To the OP, play whatever bag and irons you like. Remember, it's incumbent on the manufacturer to make something you like/play well with, not on you to use what they make whether you like it or not.

I'm a Cobra/Titleist Staffer...when I'm playing Titleist Z-blend irons I use my Titleist Staff bag...when I'm playing Cobra Pro MB irons I use my Cobra staff bag...just a personal thing...looks better in my opinion...woods aren't an issue if you use sock headcovers...so that is where I mix it up...

Regarding the walking bag...use your most comfortable bag...plain and simple...

skinny99
I think that if you actually care if your bag matches with some of your clubs (I don't)then it definitely should be your irons. There are more of them and they should be the foundation of your bag! IMHO Todd

If your buddies feel that you should jump off a bridge, would you do that?

I have on Ogio bag, what type of irons should I buy to match it?
woods991
Again just a debate among some friends in my golf group that is it!!
muxi87
I've been on a kick of matching my bag to apparel--I've had the Adidas Ascend bag for a year + now. I'm more into golf style than club and bag name brands, so it's perfect for me. Now if I could only find a sharp Puma stand bag I like!!!
aussieb
I'd like to match my Titleist irons, wedges, wood and hybrid to a bag. My driver is a Ping Rapture as is my bag purely by coincidence. It has to do with design and quality of product for me, not brand matching. The Titleist bags are not made as well. Wish they were so I could look more professional, as some people question the bag matching thing. I tell them as long as you have game, you never look like a poser!

What we are saying is - don't be a clone. Do what you like.
kgeorge78
Not necessary by any means but .............

I've gone through 2 irons and 2 bags - I like to match!
Victory_Red
Honestly dude,
what are you 12 years old? who cares........

do you want me to help you make your decision on what you should wear to school tomorrow also?
Fore_Man
I'm wearing a black belt, but wearing brown shoes. Who cares really...

I have all Cally stuff in my cally bag, but that wasn't always the case. The Cally bag carried my Cobras just fine!
endless
i guess sun mountain and ogio are out of the question for a golf bag since they focus on bags, and make no clubs...

Why would you post that? Believe me we all know Golfers are big on how we look. Why do you spend money on fancy shirts and pants and .....

I like my Bag to match my irons. Why would you have a problem with that?

p.s. - your split cavitys look amazing in a black NIKE sasquatch tour bag!
Victory_Red
Why would I post that?

because the original question warranted it. Who cares what a bunch of strangers on the internet think? its your bag, its your iron, its your money. Do what you want, not what some bloke on a forum tells you what to do.

And, if you need the reassurance from these strangers on the internet....well then, thats a whole 'nother issue.
kgeorge78
WOW you are angry.

It has nothing to do with strangers on the internet. "I" like my irons to match my bag as do many other people here. I could less what "YOU" think.

It is my money you are correct. The original question warranted nothing but a simple friend discussion.

Ham Solo
I've always liked matching my bag and irons(since my irons generally account for more than half of the clubs in my bag). I guess it's my OCD.
TeeBonZ
Ok, I'm gonna spin this the other way. I don't particularly like my bag to match. Infact I think it looks stupid unless you are a pro to have matching sh!t. Call me weird but it makes me feel like I'm trying to be something I'm not.

However, I've always like Hoofer bags more than any other stand bag. I like the way the bottom is designed and they ride much better on a cart than most other stand bags, which I do on a few occasions.

Sooooo, I switched to a set of PING I3+ Blades last year (which I really like) and so now I'm trying to find a generic bag that I like as well as the Hoofer crazy.gif

Yeah, I'm odd biggrin.gif

Once again, I am late to this. I have no issues with mixing it all up a little but for a few exceptions.

No TM clubs in Titleist bags, esp staff bags or that white Titleist stand bag from last year. I dun hate or love either of these brands although I am more partial to Titleist. I just think it's a little bit odd since most fans of one or the other seem to have strong opinions.

Ping bags work with all clubs (not literally) just cause they do. Always have and always will, I hope.

Nike bags should go in the same category as Sun Mountain and Ogio because they made bags before clubs and personally, because I'll probably continue to NOT use Nike clubs. But I so love the Sasquatch Tour stand, I think I'm gonna get one tomorrow right after the buyer picks up my Ping Latitude.

I'm using a Mizuno Aeroframe with my MP 52's but I think the 52's look good in any bag except for TM or Titleist. LOL!! Seriously, it dun really matter. Buy what you like even if its for looks, although my 12 years of golf tells me that function / durability with understated looks probably go a long way.
