Hey everybody, me and my dad are planning on going up to New York this summer and go watch the Open live, now when we saw that there were two types of tickets, we were stumped. We dont know whether it pays off to buy the full ticket (with entry to the clubhouse, food area, and other amenities) or just buy the normal ticket that we only gives us the entrance to the countryclub and free roam around the "green" or grass area, but not the club house.
would you guys to give us some help?

When i went to the US open I had no desire to go into the club house, You can basically use their bathrooms and get food from them, not a big deal for me, hot dogs and hamburgers and i think cold cuts can be had on the course with the general ticket, you will be so busy walking around trying to catch players i don't think that the clubhouse pass would make a difference really just a higher ticket price, just my opinion of course!

Oh and enjoy, the US open is an awesome tournament, I went to the one in Pittsburgh, we went to the range to watch some of the guys tee off, They had like a walk over, where the players entered the range via a bridge and walked right over the crowd, Tiger and Chris Berman of ESPN both got standing ovations, It was classic

I've been to two US Opens. Shinnecock Hills and Winged Foot. I had a general admin ticket to Shinnecock and had a blast. I had the Trophy tent tickets to Winged Foot and had a blast, too.

The only reason (IMHO) to spend the extra cash on the Trophy tent is if you really need air conditioning to survive. Otherwise you can get all the same food, beer, soda, water, etc on the course.

PS: I'm only going to the practice rounds this year. Far fewer people, and the players are much more interactive. Food for thought.

I'll second skipping the Trophy Club

I've been to Winged Foot and Oakmont and neither time did I ever feel like I wanted to go inside and you can get everything you'd need outside

If you REALLY need AC just walk through the merchandise tent
