I just got an invite from our head pro to play for our private club team. I guess my handicap qualified me to play. I've never played competitive golf and wonder if I should take them up on the offer. I guess the cool part about it is that I would get to play the other private courses in the area.
Anyone else experience playing for their club? I would like to know what I can expect.
Thanks!

I know nothing about playing team club golf, but I can say that competitive golf (at any level) is by far the most fun I've had in my life.
Plus, like you said... going around with (potentially) friends and whooping some butt on the opponent's own course...
Do it, I say!

If I was ever offer to join the club's team, was good enough and had the time, I WOULD definitely do it!

Yes, I play No2 for my club. The season is normally 6 matches long plus the playoffs. Quite cool events, all matchplay off the bat. We're not the most serious team on earth but have made the final 2 out of the last 3 years including a win

Do it.
I wish i could play for my Club's team but since i have a student membership i don't qualify. They play in all kinds of cool formats. They even have a Ryder Cup style event at the end of the year. The play some of the best course in the state and if you can make it to the championship theres some great money/prizes.

Do it. It's a blast.
I'm in Kansas so we have the Kansas Cup. Not sure how your club does it.
We have approx 36 teams across the state that compete. There are divisions of roughly 5 teams each. We play each team in our division twice. Once at home and once away. There are 10 matches. 3 singles, 1 senior singles, 1 alternate shot, 1 senior alternate shot, 2 net best ball matches, 1 senior net best ball, and 1 pro match. In the pro match it's 2 man best ball. Everything is scratch except for the 3 net matches. Each match is Match play.
The top 2 teams after division play get into the playoffs.
It's a great time. A couple of years ago Woody Austin even played for his course in Wichita.

Yes, I play on my clubs GAP (Golf Assoc. of Philadelphia) team. We're a public course so we get to go play private courses when they have the matches. It's a fun time to be had. It's definitely worth the money to participate. You should play!

No brainer....GO PLAY!
Not only is the golf a blast (usually setup in matchplay format so it's not as stressful as stroke play events....and to add, most are team matches, so you s*** the bed on a hole can be offset by your partner playing well), but you get better connected with your clubs better player social network (as well as the opposing clubs).
Great way to meet new members, and the free lunch/beer after the rounds aren't too shabby either.
