I am going to the Northern Trust Open next week at Riviera and I am wondering which day is best to go? I have always heard that it is best to go watch the practice rounds. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Tuesday, everyone is there, the equipment vans are buzzing,
the practice range and putting greens are busy.

I have been to everything but a practice round and have always wanted to go because i have heard the players are relaxed and you can take pictures and so on...
I have been to a US open final day (Oakmont) and a presidents cup saturday round, both were amazing, but still have the urge to go during a practice round, I have always said I will go to a masters practice, If you have never been to a tournament i would recommend going during a regular round, but its really all up to you!!! Enjoy your time and wish i was going!

Practice days are great because the crowds are small and the atmosphere is relaxed. You also get to see players try different shots and strategies to playing a hole.

Another one for the practice days. Players are way more relaxed, good for taking pictures and getting autographs.
I found that tournament rounds are better watched on TV as you get a better overview of all the stuff happening on the course.

Tuesday...all the players have arrived..all the OEMS are there with their newest and greatest. If you're looking for photos or autographs, the practice rounds are the days to get all that. If you can't make that...Sunday to watch the final action. You'll have to deal with the ton of crowds though so if you're not into the crowds...Friday to watch "moving day".

Agree, practice rounds are great. Usually cheaper too. The pro's might be more approachable on these days.

Masters - Wednesday. In addition to the Par 3 contest, you get to watch practice rounds where the players are relaxed and trying fun shots. For example, everyone tries hitting skip shots across the lake into a par 3. They putt to different spots on the green. They try different sand shots. They interact with the crowd.
The cheap snack bars are absolutely the best. I love the Masters.

I found that the best day for me, during the tournament - is TH or FRI - as early as possible. Go out with one of the early groups and follow them and or skip around the course before the crowds trickle in. When the crowds arrive is when I leave. I went to a US Open on a Saturday once and it was ridiculous - you had to stake out a spot and stay there, a total waste of time.
