http://www.golf.com/golf/equipment/article...879015,00.html:Pro golfer Adam Scott is about to switch apparel sponsors. The tall, debonair Australian, the first and only professional to be signed by Burberry, the English clothier, in 2001, will move on to Ashworth Golf, which has a larger, more diverse selection of golf apparel, according to executives familiar with the negotiations. No official announcement has been made.
The Ashworth company, which was acquired last year by TaylorMade-adidas Golf, has sponsored a number of tour pros, including Rich Beem and Fred Couples, but may be looking toward a younger golfer.
At 6'1" 170 lbs., Scott, who is 28, looks good in clothes and adds a touch of glamour to an endorsement deal.
Now is this a sign of things to come? He is signed with Titleist through this year but it looks like he may be moving on to Taylormade/Adidas starting next year.

Watney was still wearing Ashworth at the Buick, but his contract was not renewed.

Always felt Burberry was a overpriced British chav brand, Ashworth sounds to be a better fit for Adam Scott. good quality brand.

Mmm, little bit disappointed cos Scott used to wear some cool sh*t with Burberry...the Ashworth stuff I've seen isn't quite as nice

, but hopefully they'll have some cool stuff I haven't seen...or stuff that they are working on with Adidas lol. I don't see Scott as a TM guy though...just doesn't fit in my eye. He's a Titleist or Mizuno boy, fits the nice and traditional mould

I'd have to agree. I just don't see him wearing bright yellow pants with matching shoes!

Burberry laid off 200 workers in my home town less than a month ago so no real surprise he's going somewhere else.

Burberry announced some time last year that they would not continue there golf line, so I knew Adam would be moving on, a company isn't going to pay someone to market a line that doesn't exist. He has a pretty strong relationship with Titliest, I would be very suprized if he made the full move to Taylormade Adidas, only time will tell I guess. IMO if you have every owned a piece of Burberry clothing you would see that the quality of materials and cut are worth every penny, I would much rather pay extra money and have a sweater or shirt that wears the same for the life of the clothing than something cheaper that shrinks and balls up, and is a POS.

If the contract isn't for just a year with Ashworth it is unlikely that Taylor Made/Adidas will sign someone with his name recognition and not demand he wears their clothing as well.

I really liked the Burberry golf shirts but I could never find them in stores or at clubs. Even the Burberry store in NYC didn't have golf. Seemed odd to spend all that time building a brand that extremely scarce.

I think a player of Adam's stature & ability can dictate on what he wants to do and not be dictated to.

What exactly is your point??
Why would Adam Scott be more inclined to switch to TM than Nick Watney?? Wouldn't it be the other way around?
Nick Watney doesn't have near as much leverage on contracts as Adam Scott...so at the end of the day, Adam has a lot more say-so of which clubs he's going to play.

Right now, Adam Scott's lawyer is in litegation with Titleist. Right now, Titleist isn't allowing Scott to sign with Ashworth because it is now under the Taylor Made umbrella. But, good point about Watney. Look for Scott to play Taylor Made equipment later this year.

Talent wise, Adam Scott is more consistent and in my view talented than Nick Watney. Don't get excited.

I would say all things being equal over the last year Watney is probably playing better than Scott.

Split the difference.
A Scott-Watney combo playing Taylor Made. 2 bright young players that would breathe new life into TM. Not that they are struggling though.

i hope neither of them go to taylormade. Adam is purist and should hit either titleist or mizuno. I dont know as much about watney but he seems like a similar kind of guy as adam. Sorry all you TM guys but lets get real they dont make the purist traditional clubs that mizzy and tiity make

As a fan of Titleist and Mizuno products i could care less who sponsers who.
If Adam wants to go to TMAG then by all means do it. I really don't think he would ever go with Mizuno. Luke Donald is in about the same mold as Adam and they seem to focus on the Asian Tour. Titlesit would be reeling for sure though. I could see them shifting Camillo or Ogilvy over from Cobra to Titleist with JB and Poulter holding down the Cobra side of Acushnet
It woud be awesome to see what equipment players would choose if they weren't required to play a set number of clubs.

I think what you are seeing is a direct result of the economy. Far all intensive purposes Adam Scott was to Burberry what Tiger Woods was to Buick. A good idea but it simply did not work out. No one is buying Burberry golf wear (as evidence of the fact that they are no longer doing a golf line) simply because well, the price point is incredibly high combined with a stale economy good luck. Just like Tiger Woods was supposed to bring a younger demographic to buick (which failed) Scott was supposed to bring interest to people buying burberry golf wear(failed also).
Sometimes when your niched like burberry is (high end clothing etc.) or Buick (cars for old people) it is VERY difficult to get out of that.
A Scott experiement....over.

I wonder how this switch would impact his chances with Kate Hudson?
