The rolling fairways and the severe humidity is going to make life seriously tough for the players, let alone the caddies who will have to battle against the elements to claim the Malaysian Open trophy. If that wasn’t enough, there are also plenty of snakes and monkeys patrolling the course!
FootJoy players’ shoes have started to be delivered into our UK headquarters and then shipped to them for the season ahead. Magnus Carlsson & Wil Besseling were both sporting a pair from their recent deliveries, whilst Pelle Edberg of Sweden can’t wait to get hold of his new styles.
SSP Chowrasia, winner of the 2008 Indian Masters has ordered a new pair of DryJoys Tech for next week at the Johnnie Walker Championship, whilst Shiv Kapur has also requested shoes for the tournament. This proves a challenging task for the FootJoy European Tour team being so far away from home. Luckily enough we have a Tour team which looks after the Australasia area and will be able to assist the players needs. All part of the first class service our players receive.
Louis Oosthuizen paid us a visit this week and has ordered several more pairs of DryJoys for the season ahead. Louis wore DryJoys during his impressive display at the Dubai Desert Classic, and is looking forward to wearing these more regularly through-out the season. As well as the comfort and flexibility of the DryJoys, Louis is able to remove the fit-bed from the shoe to accommodate his orthotics for a perfect fit.
The Malaysian Open has given us the opportunity to see some of the players who have qualified for the European Tour via the 2008 Challenge Tour. Titleist & FootJoy ambassador Seve Benson will be gracing the fairways in his traditional all black classics whilst Gareth Maybin has his custom MyJoys with him, complete with his national flag embroidered on each of the heels.
