I had a very cool encounter with James Nitties on Friday night and I thought I would share it with you guys.

Cliff Notes: Nitties = Cool Guy

My buddy and I were following Phil on Friday at the Buick and noticed a guy in the group behind Phil playing without a hat. My buddy goes "who is this 'Nitties?' The guy looks like a fan that wondered inside the ropes." Normally I would have been able to fill him in on pretty much any guy in field but Nitties name alluded me. To my credit I didn't get to watch much of the FBR last weekend and gave up on the "Big Break" a few years ago.

Anyways, later that day we meet up with some buddies and I mentioned to my friend who's actually named Nitty that we had seen a guy named Nitties out on the course today. My buddy knew of Nitties and said he wanted to follow him tomorrow.

Later that night my buddies and I went out to a club/restaurant in La Jolla called "Jacks." After a nice dinner my buddy looks up towards the bar and yells "Nitties!" Yes, it turns out that Nitty had indeed spotted Nitties. We walked over and talked to him for a good ten minutes. Nitties was a really really nice guy. We were all a little intoxicated and were have a great time joking around with him. We were giving him hell for the lack of a hat sponsor and my buddy was raging on his 79 he shot at the South course on Thursday. Nitties told us that if we are coming out tomorrow, we better be following him.

The next day we had a great time following him around. He seemed to really like having a small "entourage" following him around. He talked to us pretty much every opportunity he got. It made us "normal" people feel pretty cool to know a guy inside the ropes. So if anyone is looking for a cool young player to follow besides Kim cool.gif and Villegas fie.gif I would strongly recommend James Nitties.

Thanks,

Brian

That's awesome that he was so cool and personable. Not just some other stuck up cocky rookie out there. I would definitely follow Nitties and have been rooting for him all year. So far he has been carrying my fantasy team.
OnOff
I wish I had known about him during the FBR. My fantasy team took a hit that week.

Aussies are ultra-friendly people. That was what I notice when I stayed there for 4 yrs. I sneak a peek at his scorecard more than once these 2 weeks to see how he's doing as I think he deservingly made it to the tour the hard way.
OnOff
My boy is playing well.

I am gald to see him playing well also, and gald to see him bring out the Nickent Supermag at the FBR Open.

Seems like a cool guy but what's up with his swing? He's got like the worst over the top moves I've ever seen on tour. Yeah he's doing okay with it but I doubt it'll hold up in the long term.

That story is so cool. I hope he stays that way throughout his career.

Thanks for sharing!

I can confirm the first two.

When we arrived at the course nursing our hangovers the next day, Nitties turns to us and yells "How did my boys make out with the girls last night?" Unfortunately I had nothing good to report.

Bruce Leitzke has done OK with a similiar move....and never even practiced.

Nitties is tied with Tiger...........

Every time I watch him he'll play terrific from tee to green for long stretches, with tons of makeable birdies, but he consistently burns the edges. Then he'll have a run of several holes when the over the top move is slightly out of control, and he gets in trouble.

Thats cool how that one bar experience and following him the next day made you and instant Netties fan. He definitely seems like a very cool guy. I thought he was gonna pull it off down under.

Followed him on Saturday and Sunday for quite a while. he's a terrific guy, very personable and funny. He even told me he loved my Oakley shirt, as he was walking to the 1st tee on Sat, I told him I liked his too and he smiled. He was having a bit of banter with some "normal" people up on the range too.
Love his attitude and will be following his progress in 2010.

Yeah he was near the top in a tournament earlier this year also and couldn't get over his swing haha. Its like he starts with his arms and catches up at impact by turning his hips fast. His miss seemed to be a slice also...

I just noticed he was on Big Break Mesquite. (Random Information)
