Members-
With the growth and the scale of our site today have we lost what drove you to become active here? Have we lost our sense of community? We are here for one reason... to satisfy the core golfers needs online. This joint was started by Core golfers for the golfers. Not much more of an agenda than that. To be pure. I have been hearing in the last couple of weeks from older core members that we are losing the flavor that we started with. That some of the behavior and the spirit of some membership is not what they like to see.
Ryan, myself, Marshalls and many of you work so hard to keep the integrity of the site as we designed it originally. Pure, clean, free, honest, un-bias, friendly and while we do that provide the best content for us core golfers.
We believe to the core in a saying, "Take the High Road". When in doubt we believe members, marshalls, and administrators need to always take the "High Road". When in doubt we need to caution, avoid confrontations when at all possible here. We are very sensitive about it. We as Moderator or members need to lead by example.
Our Goals
* non-biased & confidence the membership and their moderators are giving them a spin free opinion
* Best golf info
* honest, friendly, and most respected golf forum on the web.
We believe in providing a clean environment for golfers to come together and discuss all issues related to the game. Our future is contingent upon our memberships involvement. If you didn't read, post replies, and start topics what would we have? If you are satisfied then we will be healthy. There are so many things we have in the works to make our site better than it is today. If you like what you see know just you wait, you wont be let down. We are always looking for suggestions to make GolfWRX a better community for the membership.
Ryan (Gxgolfer) and I are hopeful that we continue to make the right decisions to take us to the next level. Continue to improve our site and make the interface and content better than ever. Not charging the membership for full access and classifieds is also important. The Administrators/owners here have day jobs and are not trying to strike it rich through this site. We are here for the love of the game. We are here to provide the public and us what they desperately wanted and needed in this format. Us golf junkies that engage in these forums desperately deserve a clean unbiased place for all of us to go to and be
PROUD of.
We are hopeful as our membership continue to grow as fast as it has we will continue to keep the clean atmosphere that we find today. Please help us by policing the site with us. If you see questionable material (profanity, negativity, bashing or general mean spirited conduct) that you press the "Violation" button and by doing that reports the violation to our Marshall's for removal. Members that continue to violate will be asked to remedy or leave. While we are an online community we work very very very hard to keep our site free of negativity, profanity, nudity, bias, spamming, religious, political or general conduct unbecoming. We have many Marshall's and members continuously helping us moderate our site. We have to keep it clean on topic for the long term health of our community.
<<<< LINK TO RULES >>>> Many of us spend a lot of time providing content to GolfWRX.com. We spend hours answering questions and asking them to. We feel some level of camaraderie to the membership and the website. We want to feel the leadership has integrity and strong values here. I hope through actions and our track record that Golfwrx.com will continue to impress you as it has so many members, publications and Manufacturers for years to come.
In closing here are some questions for you...
Do you think we need to keep it cleaner and more civil here?
Do you think we (administrators and marshalls) are to heavy handed?
Do you have suggestions on how to improve our site?
Do you like what we have here and why? What makes us so good?
Thanks for the support,
Richard

I guess I'll start by saying this site is great. I have noticed the growth over the past year or so and it is for the better. There are always new and active threads going that keep the boards going. The great majority of the posters are very positive and helpful, as I have not seen too many flame posts lately that would deter users from posting. That, IMO, is one of the best reasons to visit.
Also, I appreciate the fact that the site is an OPEN forum and you guys are not trying to sell product. It keeps the credibility of the site high.
Lastly, I love the BST. I think the new rules that were put in place a year or so ago and the change to not move new posts to the top was a good decision. Every couple of weeks it seems there is a thread about a ripoff, but that cannot be avoided when dealing with online transactions at a free site. Overall I do not think those bad apples hurt the integrity of the BST.
The only thing I really think needs improvement is the search engine. I don't like the fact that if I search for "sumo hosel" looking for tip diameter of a Sumo wood, the search will display any thread with either 'sumo' or 'hosel' anywhere within the thread. I try my best to use search before posting a new thread, but most of the time the results are so hit or miss it doesn't do much.
Again, keep up the good work.

I do not believe there is 'overmoderating' currently, sometimes heated discussions can be healthy...in a sick way I guess
Site is the best golf forum on net, the knowledge base of the members is incredible
The organization is user friendly and the moderators do an excellent job in keeping topics under the appropriate section
One possible improvement would be to organize BST into sections: drivers, irons, shafts, etc....

I am pretty new here, but I like it a lot. I appreciate you asking us these types of questions.
Do you think we need to keep it cleaner and more civil here?-I think it is pretty civil.
Do you think we (administrators and marshalls) are to heavy handed?-At times, but that is what keeps it pretty civil.
Do you have suggestions on how to improve our site?-I do not like how the LPGA tourney stuff got all thrown in with ladies golf talk, which does not get much chatter. (Not many ladies on the site here compared to men). Makes me think ladies golf is not as important as mens golf to the people here, and that may or may not be the case.
Do you like what we have here and why? What makes us so good?-I like how the membership is helpful in answering questions. I like how the search feature functions well. I have found out a lot of information about equipment here and well as encouragement and tips for my game.
I really appreciate all the work you guys do running the site. Thank you!

Again thank you for the kind words. Open forum is a must. Never sell equipment or we would have to over expose one more than another. BST is free and busy. I am glad you like the changes the team did last year.
Search... that might be something we could look at as an option while searching. Add a preference.

Great site and I am so glad I found it. It is well moderated without being heavy handed, and the PG setting is a welcomed relief from most places on the Net.
I agree on the Search function improvement mentioned earlier. It would also be nice to have more Topics pinned, especially in the Clubmaking section; the information shared there is invaluable and is constantly being revisited.
Also, I think you should increase the benefits to being a ClubWRX member, or at least make them more visible, more people might choose to join and help support the site. How about a multi-year WRX membership? I'd sign up for it.
Thank you very much for everything you, Ryan, and the Mods do for us.

This is my favorite site on the net, and I want to keep it that way. My only suggestion would be to have some sort of minimum posts requirement (30-50 non-BST posts) for the B/S/T. We need to discourage posters that only come on here to sell and not add value to our online community. I think this would discourage some of the scam artists that have become prevalent on our site over the last year or so.

Pinning more topics is a good suggestion if we could consolidate some of them then it wouldnt take to much room. Good idea there.

As for CluWRX... you are right but I am afraid to push it. We have a concern of a 2 class system... which we do not want. Members have a equal voice whether the are ClubWRX members or not. The 35.00/year will be saved in 2 clicks if they buy much equipment online using our sponsors. As we add value to the program it should be even more of a slam dunk than it is now.

Although it is bound to happen when any group or organization grows to this size, I do think that everyone can become a little nicer and not belittle people for their posts and thoughts. Sometimes is seems as though if you don't have x number of posts your opinion doesn't matter and therefore you should "just shut up". It seems more and more that when someone replies to a topic they are attacking rather than offering support or insight.
Other than that, keep up the good work.

I am very new here, so not sure how the site started and the old guard. I can say that other than sensing a little bit of member bias against big box stores, I think this site is excellent. I have learned a ton of things already, as well as feeling a camaraderie with a bunch of serious golfers.
One suggestion I might make is a terms and definitions section, unless there is one already that I missed. There are a tremedous number of smart golfers here, that know a ton of technical details that are way beyond me. Some place where I could look up things about torque, shaft tips, kick points, swing weights, etc would be excellent.
All in all, keep up the tremendous job!

Excellent site, best on the net for golf talk. Very civil. I don't think it's overmoderated. And the overall quality of content and discussion is easily the best anywhere.
My only critiques are that the "relocating" threads are very distracting and there are too many "sub" forums. IMHO, there's no reason to have separate forums for Golf Style, Golf Balls, GPS Range finders, etc.......those are all "General" golf topics IMHO.

I like the minimum post requirement for BST. Maybe make a few criteria, and make it the users responsibility to send a PM to a mod when they reach the requirements (less work for the Mods).
So say...
25 non BST posts
or 1 year of being a member
or 5 positive feed backs (i.e. items purchased)
You reach one of those milestones and you send a PM to be allowed to post a for sale item. The mod can quickly pull up the users profile to see if they spammed 25 posts.

I think the site is great, especially the bst!!! The only area i would like to see get revamped would be the "wrx shop" i just dont get the same "flavor" i get when i visit golfdiscussions, but to each is his own. Nothing wrong with the wrx shop, it just has a diffrent feel.
Well, yes i am a member at several other golf sites, but i have wrx as my homepage, and i visit this site everyday, do i visit the other sites every day? no, because this site is the best!! I wish i invented the site

I think the site is now very much as it was envisioned it one day would be. It's a great source of help, information and lively debate and has expanded enormously from the early days to the point where there is enough to keep an avid golfer occupied for hours. Tens of thousands of members who all visit regularly is a big thumbs up for the site, its content and the way it's being managed.
There have been some minor teething troubles, but overall I think everyone involved with the site is doing a cracking job, working very hard and providing a fantastic resource for everyone who visits now; and without a shadow of a doubt are helping to maintain the best site of its type on the interweb-thingy.
Congratulations and thanks to you all.

1. I feel you guys are doing a great job, can it be cleaner yes, however you will always get a handful of those that get off tangent every so often and that goes for any board, its just a part of being a forum member unfortunately it happens.
2. No, very good at letting the discussions going as far as they need, and stepping in only when it gets to far OT or to crazy.
3. I love this forum the way it is, If anything I would love maybe a forum get together annual and or regional to get to know others better. I know we have something like that already in the outings area but maybe something a little more formal would be awesome.
4. I love what you guys provide here no complaints, I love that you guys provide the best outlet for information discussion on the game we all love most. I enjoy that we are not biased to any particular oem's and that we treat everyone like the game intended us to, with respect versus ridicule.

Great forum and great job by the moderators!
I think there can be a bit more civility amongst the members. Hopefully the "violation" button will get used a bit more. It seems that there are some people who are just closed minded to certain golfers, golf personalities, or even entire tours and any opinion differing from theirs meets with a barrage of, well, let's just say "negative" comments.
I was always taught that if you don't have something positive to say, don't say anything. While that's not always a great thing, let's refraing from attacking people- I've seen that a bunch of times.
The other thing (and we're all guilty of it) is adding comments that are completely meaningless to the continued discussion. I promise, going forward, to not reply if I can't add something meaningful to the discussion.
Keep up the good work WRX'ers!

As others have posted, this is truly the best golf forum on the internet, bar none. The feedback, intelligence, and overall setup, and member participation is truly superb. Here are some thoughts on some of the questions......
Do you think we need to keep it cleaner and more civil here?
A: Sometimes I see some "sniping" between members occur, but it seems to be nipped pretty quickly by the moderators. It occurs, but the level of cleaniness is pretty good on golfwrx.
Do you think we (administrators and marshalls) are to heavy handed?
A: Not at all, in fact I'd rather see you step in more often at times.
Do you have suggestions on how to improve our site?
A1: I think there are too many subforums, and the format needs to be simplified. The main page, vs. the slide-out bar on the right, vs. the "quick links" and "forums" page listings on the right are simply too much to digest easily. Simple is good!
A2: for whatever reason, I can never seem to find the "advanced search" feature easily. The generic search form at the top works awfully IMO, I wish there as a distinct link for "advanced search" on EVERY page.
Do you like what we have here and why? What makes us so good?
A: this is a hard question to answer, but I believe the constant message of civility, group participation, and a strongly moderated website contribute to why GolfWRX is so good. Frankly - another favorite website of mine had the same 'vibe' as golfwrx, but their traffic dropped substantially, so I spend more time here.

Richard et al...
It is a pleasure to be a member of this forum, I've met many of the members here and have nothing but great things to say about each and every one of them. The membership is, in my opinion at least, one of the greatest achievements of this board. I know that if I have a question I can log on and find tons of folks who will provide me with a thoughtful and meaningful answer in a matter of minutes. I like the non-biased focus and I appreciate the efforts you all have made to create a friendly atmosphere.
I've been on many other sites and I don't feel as though this one is run by a heavy handed mod team. A certain tone is set here and I find the majority of threads to be respectful and well-intentioned. I recently had a WTT thread locked up and removed because I forgot to mention a price. At first, I thought I had made a mistake and not posted it then later realized I had been sidetracked and had not followed the rules. Some may say the BST rules are strict, however, I felt happy with the fact that this incident did not squeak through because the rules set forth are for the good of the community. It doesn't matter if I am a good guy, a respected member or any combination of the two, I didn't follow the rules and therefore my post was removed. I like that, it indicates that this site doesn't play favourites and that nobody is above the law.
It is refreshing to see folks stick to their guns and provide consistent supervision of a highly visible product when so many other sites (both in and out of the golf world) forget the vision and goals by which they were founded.
Great job.

Do you think we need to keep it cleaner and more civil here?
Do you think we (administrators and marshalls) are to heavy handed?
For the first 2 questions. I think on average, you do a really good job....but, I've seen some threads that I just don't understand how they are still going and some where I don't understand why they were closed. But overall, this site seems to be one of the more civil sites out there.
Do you have suggestions on how to improve our site?
I'm sure the search function could be a little better but with a little looking, I can usually find the answers I'm looking for. And, since you asked.....I would love to see less of the one word, useless posts. I'm all for constructive criticism but the attacks and negative comments that add nothing to the discussion have really gotten to me over the last couple months. I understand that this is an open forum and that everyone gets to add their opinion but when you keep seeing the same posts from the same people....it just gets a little old. I also realize that there are some on the exact opposite side of this but blind positive comments don't seem to bother me as much as blind hate. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about but if not, I would be happy to explain.
Do you like what we have here and why? What makes us so good?
I love the BST section (although a min post count before selling might be a good idea) but what I have found most valuable is the 'how to' posts. I've learned so much about club design, wedge grinds, MOI, paintfill, grip changing, etc. I've also been lucky enough to meet and golf with some great people by going into the Style section and looking around in the playing partners section.
Overall, you have a great site...keep up the good work. Thanks.

I hate this site, the BST eats up my internet bandwidth quota in a flash, and the urge to buy all the goodies is too great. Better spend more time over at the Swing forums...
Do you think we need to keep it cleaner and more civil here? - Too clean and civil makes a dull read
Do you think we (administrators and marshalls) are to heavy handed? - Not that I've seen
Do you have suggestions on how to improve our site? - Not yet
Do you like what we have here and why? What makes us so good? - Search functions, BST, Swing forums. The wealth of knowledge is unbelievable...
Keep up the great work guys.

I'm a newbie here, but I think you guys do a great job. I love this place! In fact, it's the only website that I visit on a daily basis.
As an act of good faith, Richard, you can send me that Cally FT-9 9.5 I-Mix with the Fubuki shaft.

Some quick pointers.
The BST is divided into Categories.
In between the BST Rules and the listings is the Category search function. It will pull all listings by category.
Advance Search is on every page. Its in the far Column to the right under "Replies to Post"
We also do have an outings section which is linked in the menu bar to the right:

Hello all. This is my first post to date and I have to say this is the best site I have ever been on. Originally I started with all the fabulous questions and anwers(maybe a couple of minutes per week), which led me to the BST section(Couple of hours a day), now this site is always on. I realized everyone is here to better the game of golf. No spammers. Very few scammers.
Love this site. Thanks to all.

Hmmmm.... I'm reminded: "... you can please some of the people all of the time, or all of the people some of the time... but you can't please ALL of the people ALL of the time... JAT

I love the site and it's been my number one resource as far as equipment and swing information for years now.
I do feel the moderators sometimes seem to jump in at the wrong times. Lately it seems like whatever topics I take an interest in, I come back later to find them locked up. Rather than closing a discusion, why not edit out the areas that cause a problem? The posts where someone takes a shot at someone else should be deleted and that person warned. I'm tired of people posting something and then (whether it deserves it or not), some idiot posting a negative to say "this has already been posted" or "you need spell check". If the post are obviously off topic and are meant to do nothing but belittle someone else- delete it.
And if you're going to close a post, just close it. There's something about a mod leaving a closing message on a closed thread that just comes off bad.
Other than that, change nothing. I love the way the site is set up. I'd like to see more activity in certain areas but that's all member driven so unless we all participate it's not going to happen.
Lastly- protect the newbies. Any guy or gal that loves golf and finds this site is going to excited and want to discuss. They're new and want to talk about things even though people here have discussed those same things at length before. Nobody wants to go back and just read all the old conversations. It's a turn away to them if they come on and are immediately flamed for not being up to speed and overall just not the polite way to do things. I guess I still see all these threads as big conversations and figure if you wouldn't say something in person to someone, then you shouldn't type it either.
The only real negative about this site is that if it didn't exist, I'd probably get a lot more done at work.

This may surprise a lot of people, but I really enjoy this site.
I enjoy posting and reading in a variety of topics. I get busier at this time of year, and generally can't post or read as much as I like to. Definitely my favorite site to visit on the internet, and the moderators really do a great job. There are a couple of characters in the bunch (okay, George is really the only guy that is a character, but you get the point), and I think they do a great job keeping everyone in check.
Thanks to Ryan and Richard and team for making this site what it is!

If I have any bright ideas for improving GolfWRX, you'll be the first to know. Until them . . . all I can say is . . my compliments. Like St. Augustine, who said about time that he had a very good grasp on the concept of time whenever he didn't think about it, but didn't understand a whit about it when he did, my very best analytical efforts couldn't describe what you are doing that makes this site work so very well. I can tell you that I spend a significant amount of time here because it does work, and it works very well thank you. So, my best professional and professorial advice is - whatever you are doing, keep it up.

Like most have said, I LOVE this site! Since I joined, I've been on here almost everyday. Love all the great pics, all the tech talk, even all the opinions.
Keep up the great job! Don't change a thing! The only down side to being on here so much is I've become more of an equipment ho! lol...

I think the mods do a great job here as do most members.
Do you think we (administrators and marshalls) are to heavy handed?
^See above answer^
Do you have suggestions on how to improve our site? Maybe make me the winner of the next giveaway? Haha, I can't think of anything truthfully.
Do you like what we have here and why? What makes us so good?
The amount of knowledge shared here is fantastic. Two years ago, I never would have thought about clubmaking myself. I wouldn't be able to read real world opinions on equipment, both good and bad. Golfwrx has so many first hand pre-release pictures of new equipment it is crazy. Without Golfwrx, I never would have discovered great companies like Machine & Scratch, or any of the other companies I've read about (yet to purchase from).
So I'm happy to be here & proud to be a member of ClubWRX.
Thanks

Without it's members and their thoughts and ideas, GolfWRX is just software and a bunch of servers.
Thanks to all our members for making GolfWRX what it is today, the best golf site going.
Thank You
