FootJoy is, once again, the #1 shoe at the event with nearly 60% of the players.
“Desert Lovers” Henrik Stenson, Martin Kaymer and Louis Oosthuizen are all in the field this week, as they look to continue their great form from the past two weeks. Henrik was busy working, as always, on the practice tee with his coach Pete Cowan. Henrik was breaking in another new pair of Classics Tour for this weeks event, whilst Louis Oosthuizen collected a nice new pair of DryJoys Tech (style
#53502) He had never worn these shoes before and couldn’t believe how comfortable they were straight out of the box, and also the difference in weight between these and his usual shoe preference.
With the Ryder Cup Captaincy being the big news of the week, two experienced Ryder Cuppers, Jose Maria Olazabal and Lee Westwood were both sporting new pairs of Custom Classics. The ever-popular Jose Maria drew a crowd of Spanish players earlier in the week as they looked on and admired his fantastic ball striking skills and sartorial elegance. Among those watching included FootJoy wearers Alvaro Velasco, Pablo Larrazabal, Alejandro Canizares and the winner of last weeks Qatar Masters.
Damien McGrane, Mark Foster and Ross McGowan are all wearing the new
SYNR-G shoe this week. Mark was exceptionally pleased with his new pair that he wore for the first time last week in Qatar, that he has ordered a second pair (style
#53870) in time for the Malaysian Open.
Steve Webster and Challenge Tour Winner, David Horsey were both wearing the traditional all white Classic, style
#50672. David has ordered a few more pairs to see him through the start of the season. You can’t go wrong with this style as it seems to match any clothes the players choose to wear which is essential for them when they spend so much time traveling between tournaments and are looking to keep their luggage to a minimum. Excess baggage is expensive these days!
There is no European Tour event next week, so we shall see you next at the Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur.
