I'm heading out to Vegas in April and my buddies refuse to go too far off the Strip for a round. So between Angel Park and Las Vegas National, what would you guys recommend? Thanks.

First things first, LV National is 20 minutes closer to the strip than Angel Park, obviously depending on traffic. Second, Angel Park is okay and usually in good condition. LV National is one of the best layouts in the valley, not always in great shape, but good shape. I would go with National.

In a previous post on here someone said the greens on the Mountain course are in bad shape, but the Palm course is in great shape. I played both last March and they were in very good shape, they have good deals on same day replays like $25 when I was there, greens were quite grainy so you really had to be aware of that when reading your putts, but the staff is great and its a pretty easy drive from the strip just jump on the freeway. I haven't played LV National so can't comment on it.

Like everybody said, National is real close to the strip. It is an older course for Vegas standards and it's up keep it so so. It has hosted many PGA tour stops and can be challenging from the tips. Angel Park is okay, mountain is more of a challenge but not in as good shape as palm. If those are you're only two choices, I would choose National.
Hope that helps.

LV National is in terrible shape, we had snow here 4 days this winter and it trashed the place. That being said, Harrah's now manages the course, along with Rio Secco and Cascata. They took over management to drive people to the other courses, and have not taken care of this course at all.
There is no way I would recommend LV National to anyone in its current state. Sorry.
Angel Park's Mountain course is in OK shape, but the green still need some help. The Palm Course is the shorter course, but has more personality, and is in the best shape I have ever seen.
Other courses that are similar distance from the strip to Angel Park, but are better would be Rhodes Ranch, TPC Las Vegas (was TPC Canyons), Sienna or Red Rock Arroyo.
