Golf is about being a individual. If a guy wants to wear a hot pink shirt he should be able too. If you want to wear a white belt wear the f****** thing, who is the fashion police on the course. You don't have to be a plus 3 handicap to wear nice clothes on the course. To all the fat, old, angery men out there, Kiss my skinny, tan, fashionable a**. golf is more than navy blue shirts and docker shorts.
I think it is nice for everyone (old, fat, high handicapper, low handicapper, man or woman) to keep "up to date" with their golf clothes. I would think the guys who are stuck in the past with their golf attire are also stuck in the past with their "regular" clothes.
I like to dress fashionably on the course, but being comfortable is more important, I think. I prefer the more sporty golf styles like Nike and Adidias, since I can move in those clothes. In the summer in Florida, you just try to pick whatever is the lightest material possible.
Now I am a girl, so I won't get razzed for the pink, which seems to be a pressure point here. I actually have more pink golf clothes than regular clothes, thanks to Paula.
