ANyone ever volunteered for an event? Im volunteering for the Outback ProAm in April and am wondering what to expect. Its funny thought to volunteer you have to actually pay 75 dollars. Anyone ever done this before? Whats it like?

It makes for a good time!

Whether it's just carrying a bag in the pro-am or being a walking scorer, it's a great way to see a little of the tournament. It's also fun to pick up bags at smaller tour tournaments.

I'm amazed they're asking you to pay $75. Is volunteering that exclusive?

Hookem,

First off, welcome to Golfwrx!! Looks like you joined today. Enjoy!!

Use the search function up above and search "volunteer". There are several threads that talk about marshalling, scoring, volunteering in general and what you can expect.

Do it, it's a blast!!! We've volunteering for the LPGA Safeway Classic for a few years now and love it.

Jon, I think the $75 gets you the "uniform" for the week....shirt, hat, windshirt, etc....

Cheers,

Woo

After looking inot it more its actually a good deal for 75 bucks. You get 6 passes to the event, play the course for free, meal each volunteer day, 5 shirts, free balls, and attend the pre tourney party. And the money goes to charity. Im definitly doing it at the ProAm and hopefully the PGA event at the Copperhead course at Innisbrook but I hear its harder to get that one. Hopefully my father in laws membership will help me get into that one!

You can't go wrong. I was lucky enough to get to marshall hole#1 for the Ryder Cup last summer. Awesome experience and I would have paid much more than I did just to get the volunteer parking pass! Enjoy.
