Well, unfortunately my car was stolen this morning and whilst speaking to my insurance company it was scary how much money (equipment wise) was in my boot.
I had 3 pairs of shoes, waterproofs, a couple of drivers and some gloves and balls. When ask on a value I realised it was about £500!!!! Fortunately, this was covered under my policy but after speaking to the insurance company I was told some policies don't cover this or only cover up to a couple of hundred.
Just thought I would mention this as I wouldn't like to see any fellow WRX's out of money.

I know the feeling. It wasn't golf equipment but had my car stolen with about a $1,000 of fishing equipment in the trunk along with 2 pairs of insulated coveralls and about 8 wool shirts I was going to take to the dry cleaners. Now I try and keep what's in the trunk only to what's needed for a on road emergency. It truely sucks.Stolen out of my driveway too.

Right now nothing but a set of poker chips, thanks to old man Winter.
I personally haven't had anything stolen, but several cars in the municipal garage where I park for work were broken into. It has made me seriously reconsider keeping all my golf stuff in there for those post-work emergency 9 hole outing.s

Learned a valuable lesson.I never leave my clubs in the trunk. They're harder to replace than most of the fishing stuff I lost.

I have a jeep, so it stays as empty as possible. Right now there are a few tow straps, a windshirt, and a bit of loose change. Clubs never stay in there overnight. It also stays unlocked so that people hopefully don't pry the doors open or cut through the top. I'm not too worried about someone stealing it though. It's very identifiable and it's a standard. I can't believe how many of people can't drive a stick these days, criminal or otherwise

How do you NOT keep your clubs and gear in the trunk 3 days out of 7 at least? Unless you belong to a private club, most of us do not go home prior to driving to the range or course. Now, when the weather is bad for several days in a row, I will bring the clubs inside, up to the master bedroom. The wife always asks why, and I say, in case a burglar gets in, I will have a wedge handy ..............

FWIW - I have a trunk bag (see signature). It's got my practice stuff. It's also light enough that even these old legs can carry it should golf break out unexpectedly. The I have around $100 in the irons. My persimmons would be a loss but I have a backup set. The real loss would be the MacKenzie but I bought it for a song. Don't know how they would handle a claim on it. I do my stuff covered (I have a hatchback with a boot cover). I feel better about having my gamers safely in the trunk.

safely and in the trunk don't go together. All it takes is one a**hole and you'll feel anally raped. Then again is anywhere really safe these days. There was a rash of home invasions on the news just a month ago.During the summer there was a rash of burglaries in an upscale neighborhood where ever the garage door had been left open. I guess if it works for the convience don't be a slave to paranoia and keep you stuff in the trunk.I just can't do it anymore.

i just went out there and looked...
3 pairs of golf shoes
4 dozen golf balls (2 doz NIKE one black, 1 doz ProV1x, 1 doz B330-s)
1 full set of irons (mizuno mp-32's)
1 set of short irons 7-w (PING S58's)
4 wood (mizuno mp001, fuji 757)
hybrid (nickent 3dx, accra)
wind gear (Adidas)
I dont really know why all this stuff is back there... the only thing i ever use is the S58's sometimes and the shoes... nothing else really ever gets used its just there... i dont really keep a lot of clubs anymore i usually give or sell all my stuff that i dont use (although i do buy and try a lot but being in college i sell most of it again)...

That sucks, man. Sorry to hear that happened! I try and never leave my clubs in the car if possible. This past year I had a front window smashed and they stole my half-broken cd player, a couple pair of beat old tennis shoes I looped in (lol), and a bag with a couple dozen practice balls from the passenger seat. Took nothing from the back seat including an expensive backpack or the trunk which had probably $4-5K in it between my golf clubs and amps... pheww.

The only time my clubs are in the trunk is when I'm in the car. I take them in at the hotel, home, the course, everywhere. If I'm going to have a bite before leaving, I'll put them in the bag room.

Well the insurance company has told me they can't replace the two drivers a Callaway FT5 and a Callaway FT3 as they don't make them anymore. So instead I have been offered two FT9's!!!
So some good has come out of the whole saga.

Apart from some old carpet that the dogs sit on and some towels to dry them off with, nothing.
Always a good idea to habitually leave a grand and more's worth of golf equipment in the boot - particularly when you stick a Scotty Cameron or 'I'd Rather Be Driving a Titleist' sticker in a prominent place on the car to advertise the fact you're a golfer as some of the numbskulls at my place do.
If the local police are slacking off, send some work their way and keep them busy, I say.

I just have tools and a few crappy pairs of golf shoes. I'll leave my clubs in the trunk during the season. I could care less, car is insured and the clubs are covered by seperate insurance. I'd probably get paid twice for them and of course I'll say I still had the Miura's and whatever the most expensive driver on the planet is at the time. Book on the car is also over double what I owe on it. If I woke up and it was gone, I'd be dancing around like an idiot with $10K cash for a new ride and another $4K for new clubs coming.
