No wonder we all are hateing on Tillingham ... show the golf ! enough commercials ,enough jiber jabber , enough mountains shots and guys grinding over putts...... we want golf shots !!!
keaney91
I decided not to watch any of the Hope this week. The going back and forth between the different courses gives me whiplash; I don't want to watch other ams play, and something about a guy shooting 20 under after two rounds doesn't really appeal to me.

Come on MacGwire, admit you're in love with her. Between the constant posts about her, and the obviously purposeful misspelling of her name, it's clear you have the hots for her.

Every break a Golf Fix promo...
Fat Duke
It´s really boring to watch that competition. No shots at all.

I believe I can some up the two main problems relatively easy;

1) Too much time between shots: TIVO, DVR and recording.

2) Swithching from course to course and watching amatures: Don't watch.

For all you wannabe program directors out there, simply apply, get the position and THEN make the changes you'd like to see.

Be proactive, not just another reactive complaint!

DVR, the only way to watch golf

I dont usually complain about the golf channels coverage but today is about as bad as i have ever watched .. terrible would about describe it ... i had to shut it off , i hope this is not a prelude to the coverage for 2009 as it will be a very long year
Naffiliate
I hope the talking heads of the players won't continue.. & way too much of the amateurs... agree- not enough golf shots, too much around the green..

do like the shot tracker.. that's cool...

yea.. DVR everything--- can't watch tv without it anymore...( and in HI-DEF)

As for your smart a$$ comment about wannabe program directors is a little over the edge , it just would be nice if you turned on golf that what you would see not for every 1/2 hour 20 minutes is talking or commercials

Dude, it's obvious you either hate this person or have a crush on her. No matter what she or TGC does, you start a completely negative thread about it. Your efforts would be better spent writing to TGC management- enough negative comments and maybe they'll do something about it. Posting on here will most likely have zero effect.

We get it, you don't like her or the Golf Channel. Move on man.

And love her or hate her, at least have enough respect for another person to get their name right. It's getting old...

To Golf Channel's credit, they seem to be listening to our comments. More Playing Lessons, coming up with new instructional shows, showing more actual golf coverage. I haven't watched the Hope but the two tournaments from Hawaii were a big relief from the reality show crap.

Titt for Tatt....

I guess if my opinion, that lots happen to agree with is smart a$$, then I guess your "that what" statement is dumb a$$!

Don't get angry cause I'm right. Just use our modern technology or change the channel.

Amen!
Mark_Crossan
this makes me appreciate sky sports so much, it awesome, they show everything
TitleistWI
I personally think they showed way too much of the celebrities' shots and not enough of the pros. Look at how well Stricker is playing and they hardly showed any of it.
I too wish they would stop BSing and just show some golf. I watch to watch golf, not to listen to Faldo joking around with the celebs.
Carl Spackler2
I barely saw any of Strickers round today!
He is the freaking leader and yet nothing...

Ah, but we heard a lot of: "This is on the 16th, the position hole"
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Grant076
"THIS AINT YOUR DADDY'S INSTRUCTIONAL SHOW!!"

..but in all seriousness it's pretty pathetic to watch.

I'm just happy to see any golf on TV, it's -14°.
1big_whipper
I will give GC props for being in HD now. It is pretty sweet,...that is until they put Lerner or some other talking head on instead of the action. Count how many times Kelley says Fedex Cup in a three hour period. overkill.

I generally don't mind Faldo too much, but lately even he has been on my nerves with some trite commentary. Oh well, that's what the mute button is for I guess.

Amen to that. I can only take so much of the X-Games...
Oppie
I generally can't stand any of the announcers that the Golf Channel has but can tolerate them for some good golf. This week they aren't showing any good golf so its pretty much torture to watch! I miss Jim Nantz, Johnny Miller, and especially Ben Wright......the good old days!

bucky316
here's an example: Chris Stroud started & ended Friday's round in 4th place....and TGC did not show even one of his shots...or even mention his name during 3 hours of coverage...
jcbhurst
I wish the GC's PGA coverage would take a little note of the GC's European Tour coverage.....
  • Not once have they had a shot of the commentators, let alone a 10 minute break of them talking.
  • Commentators are focused on the golf, not tangenting off into other topics.
  • Not 50 plugs for the Race to Dubai, or a break down 10 different times of how its scoring works.
  • No soap operas regarding player's lives, interviews and essays on subjects that many consider to be inappropriate.
  • I don't think I've missed a shot today of those in contention to win. I believe i have seen just about every shot the top 5 have hit. Like the comment above, where has Chris Stroud been on the coverage?

It is very refreshing to watch the Euro coverage, and I'd love to watch a PGA coverage in the same way. I understand the stance of those who say if you don't like it, don't watch it; however, I believe they could benefit immensely by making some changes.

As someone had stated previously, I'd love to see Faldo and Nobilo together in the booth. Two accomplished players talking golf. I bet it would be informative as well as entertaining listening to them talk about the shots at hand, instead of the FedEx Cup.

WSunograd09
CBS starts it's 2009 weekend coverage next week with the FBR; I tried to find who the main announcers will be, anyone know if it's going to be Nantz and the regulars from the past couple years?
ABT
It will be literally impossible in anything that we do, to make a large mass happy. We all have been created differently and that's what makes it interesting. There are two ways to go with it, those of us that deal with it and those that complain because it's not their way.

To be honest I do use the DVR option and skip some stuff not because I hate it but to save time so can do other stuff. I like to see the armatures because I can relate to them better than Stricker’s 230 yard iron shot on par 5 that lands 5 feet from the hole. Unless you are tour pro, you should be feeling the same way but tour player wannabe , well enough said.

fredstar
Why do they show footage of the mountains and lakes instead of guys preparing or hitting shots? Take a look at OZ and Euro coverage to see how it's done!
Viking Golfer
I follow bot the PGA Tour and the European Tour every week of the year. But I have my favorite tournaments from week to week.

When the Fed Ex cup starts, I mainly watch the PGA Tour events. When the PGA Tour comes to California and it's Bob Hope time and 2 weeks later going to At&T, I almost don't watch the PGA Tour at all - because the Euro Tour has the 3 "Desert Swing" tournaments and I much prefer to watch these 3 weeks than watching the Sony Open, Bob Hope & AT&T lazy2.gif lazy2.gif

Next week I'll also prefer the Dubai Desert Classic over the FBR Open, though the FBR open can be pretty funny to watch - but the spectators go a bit too crazy for my taste - it's golf and not football or soccer for Christ sake. I'm just not crazy about drunk screaming dudes, who don't know how to behave on a golf course nea.gif ........ fie.gif

Because I pay for a subscription to Viasat Golf, I don't see any commercials at all from the European Tour - which also is a bonus. It's golf, golf and all about golf - and not having to listen to boooooring commentators, boring sponsor talk and essays from the so called golf journalists on The Golf Channel and NBC.

I also prefer the new super slow cameras on the European Tour - much better and sharper slow mo pics than the "Minolta swing vision" cams on the PGA Tour.

But - as I say, I watch both tours, and in 2 weeks time, it's Buick Invitational time and then I'll be watching the PGA tour again and will have to live with the looooong commercial breaks, sponsor talk and loooooong essays again smile.gif

As some one says, it's a free world. No one forces me to watch it - so I just record it on my Harddrive recorder and fast forward past the boring cr_ap, I don't want to see biggrin.gif
