This is horse crap! Like people say, he won't tax snow skiing, because he ski's. They tried to raise the rates at the local course (los Verdes,) to pay for maintaining the horse riding trails and some politician said it was unfair to make golfers pay for something completely unconnected to them. I also hear they are giving us I.O.U.'s for our state tax returns this year. Not only are they going to unfairly burden our hobby, they are witholding money from us that we overpaid to them via tax deductions. That is total BS!!! It's gonna get way too expensive to live here soon! (Not that it's ridiculous now.) They want to raise the tax on alcohol too. No more $2-buck-chuck. Current taxes are 8 cents on a bottle of wine, they are proposing like $.30. Beer is already like $6 a pint. I am from Ohio and am fine drinking $2 Bud Light specials, guess the micro-brews will feel the effects of that.

I figured instead of bitching and moaning, why don't I do something? BTW, it took me 60 seconds to fill out my info.

I'm all for it. Golf is a habit gone awry just like cigarettes. Excise tax it. Why not? It'll help our deficit. Help public funding. If you're married, it'll help deter some from going out and playing golf despite objections from the wife. It's a good thing.

Singling out a single recreational activity like this is ridiculous.

Why not just legalize weed & sell it out of state supplied facilities?
It's already semi legal in the form of "medical marijauna" and sells out of dispenceries for high $$$.
The state, by lowering the price and selling a good product, would do quite well and maybe we would then have no need for a tax on golf, wine, etc.
