I've only been into golf for about 18 months or so... so I'm new to the behind the scenes stuff that goes on...

How does someone get entered into the PGA ProAm as an amateur? Is it just up front money or do you have to know the right people? Highest bidders? Friend of a friend has to "sponsor" you? Do you have to be a certain handicap?

Just curious- I'm not thinking of entering anything. I know a whole bunch of very good golfers but I've never met anyone who has played on ProAm day at a PGA tournament.

Most either pay alot of money, or know the right people.

Pro-Am spots are generally filled by corporate sponsors that pay several thousands of dollars each spot for the privilege. CEOs and Executives are your typical pro-am playing spots. Probably a few celebs and sports figures too

And, no, you don't have to be a certain handicap, you will see some truly horrible 'golfers' hacking away in a pro-am wink.gif

Does the Nationwide do Pro-Ams? If so, are they cheaper?

To my knowledge all the PGA & LPGA tour events do Pro-Am's. Yes they get progressively cheaper. There used to be a futures tour event nearby and the lowest Pro-Am entry fee was in the $250 range. For a little more and you could go the meet & greet the evening before.
