We are having a get together for 4 days and are going to play golf 3 of them. We have 6 golfers playing with us and varying performance differences from a mid/good (80's) golfers to a newbie and one woman included.

We are talking to some different agencies recommended here by searching here and have come up with a few list of package deals to decide from.
We want some nice courses, but want all to have fun and the good golfers would like to have one kind o WOW course even if it kicks everyones butt..lol

Please excuse the spelling here too smile.gif

These are at the top of our list right now. I know there are other packages available, but these are the ones that seem to be the best deal for what we are looking at with accommodations and recommendations from the travel groups.

The north end stuff seems most appealing at this point due to the close proximity for food and bars after golf in the evening.

Any help is appreciated!!!!

Hmmm... i have not played alot of them but here is a little feed back on a few....

River Hills was nice, but when I played they had a ton of sand on the green so putting was a crap shoot..

Kings North would be a WOW course for sure! They have a 'gambler hole'.

Farmstead is neat. it has a par 6 hole. Starts in NC finishes in SC. kinda cool.

Did the Myrtle Beach National packages have one that inclided "Long Bay Club"? I really liked it there.

+1 for Long Bay...number 10 is SWWWEEEETTT!!!

I spend last week in Myrtle Beach and Arrowhead and The Wizard. I really enjoyed Arrowhead, it was in top notch condition. There is a ton of water, and a few very narrow holes, but its a cool course. The Wizard wasn't quite as impressive to me.

think that's enough WOW on a single hole, don't you?
HeftyLefty
Agreed!!! Bring your beach towel and a shovel!!!

Hahah
joekelli
look at Barefoot resort. they have 4 courses that all of you would enjoy. enough WOW factor to keep everyone happy! I played the Love and Fazio course and both were different and very very fun to play!

Look at Legends resort, very reasonable, great tracks for all types of golfers. 3 Courses onsite so minimize driving, 3 courses offsite.

I'd say best bang for your buck.

Courses in order of favorite to least favorite, but all I would say are above average courses:

Heritage
TPC
Mooreland
Oyster bay
Parkland
Heathlands

Thanks all for the responses so far.

These are the packages that fit our budget and time frame we are looking at being there. We are getting pretty specific with our needs for accommodations and these are the best packages with that constraint.

Go with Group 4, Group 6 or Group 7.
Nothing wrong with River Hills. Last time I played there I made 2 on each of the par 3s so of course I like it!

Don't forget True Blue and Caledonia.

I 2nd the Barefoot resort...I loved the courses...
NYsportsfann
kings north, river club, and long bay are some of my favorites in the area. true blue was nice, but the staff wasnt the friendliest (to juniors, at least)

Go a little north to Ocean Isle on the NC side (20 minutes) and play any three of the 4 Ocean Ridge Plantation courses. Lion's Paw and Panther's Run are well taken care of and playable by all. Tiger's Eye and Leopard's Chase are both a step up in difficutly, price and wow factor. Call them directly they usually have great deals on any three combined.
seveniron
I would not play
3.
Meadowlands
Farmstead
Crow Creek

Out of the courses you listed Tidewater is my favorite. . . i also like shaftsburyglen--it's straightforward, right in front of you golf, with good greens

Thanks for the input all!

I believe we have decided on a package of #4 with playing

1st day Farmstead
2nd day River Hills
3rd day Grande Dunes

Sounds like from reading and talking to others these should be enjoyable by all going.

Of the ones you listed if you have to play any of those. I'd do Glen Dornoch and Tidewater. Arrow head is ok, it's somewhat scenic, but the course isn't spectacular. I'd spend more and play Caladonia and or True Blue. Somebody else mentioned Long Bay, which I don't see on this list, but that course is awesome. I played that, True Blue, Tidwater as well as a couple others in May. If you can't afford the better courses, don't sweat it, MB is more about the fun and the company you keep on the course. Enjoy.

Tidewater is an awesome course.

1.
Wachesaw
Prestwick

Located towards the south end of the Grand Strand. All are excellent golf courses. Wachesaw and Prestwick occasionally have some problems with the greens, but good set of courses here.

2.
Tradition
Arrowhead
Prestwick

Arrowhead is more towards the central part of the Grand Strand, just west of the Waccamaw River. The commute for these courses is a little more now. All good courses, but Arrowhead is probably the lesser of the group.

4.
Tidewater or Grande Dunes
River Hills
Farmstead

Tidewater is fantastic. Heard good things about Grande Dunes. Rivers Hills is really solid. Never played Farmstead.

QUOTE
5.
Blackbear
Burning Ridge
Crownpark

Burning Ridge isn't a bad design, but it's nothing to write home about and isn't that great condition. I'm guessing Blackbear and Crownpark are not all that hot either (usually they try to keep the same level of courses together).

Love Heather Glen and Glen Dornoch. Never heard of Shaftsbury.

7.
Myrtle Beach National (both)
Kings North

The MB National courses don't have bad designs, but when I played there (about 10 years ago) the conditions weren't all that good. However, I've heard they've greatly improved the conditions. I was never too nutty about Kings North. It's a fine course and should be in fabulous condition, but I think there's far better courses out there when it comes to the top notch courses on the beach. All of these courses are part of one course, so the travel isn't too far. It's more central Myrtle, right off of 501.

8.
The Witch
The Wizard
Man o' War

Solid group of course. The Witch is excellent. Man O'War doesn't have a bad hole on the course. The Wizard is a great course to get your first round on since it's a great confidence builder and a solid design. Usually these courses are in great condition. Man O'War and the Wizard are not too far from where the MB National courses are and Man O'War and Wizard are adjascent to each other. The Witch is down on 544, probably about 5-10 minutes away.

I'd say 1,4,6 and 8. I'd also give the Legends courses a look at.
