I'm considering purchasing this book but I'm wondering if its just another attempt to make money off Tiger's name or is it really an interesting behind-the-scenes account of his season. Anybody currently reading this?

I just finished reading it. Sorry I did not see your post sooner. It is probably my vote for top read of the year so far. It is worth picking up. Its in no way one of those books that makes money off tigers name and just gives you recaps of stuff you see on golf channel.
Its actually like a superfans journal of his time out following the best golfer ever to play the game, and recalling what the experience was like to be there as a fan; its about the people he meets and the places he sees and what its like for an everyman to spend months on the road, following the game you love and meeting the coolest and most genuine people you will ever meet, all through the common admiration of Tiger.
Its actually quite charming and funny and a nice break from a lot of the tofu and windchimes you read in golf books. This one will make you laugh and truly remember the magic of the game.
Enjoy it!

At the US OPen,
That "roar" was fun to follow/listen too as it when around the course to get to the 18th green.
Made Saturday and Sunday sitting in the bleachers worth it for the final two groups to arrive.

I couldn't agree more. I just finished, and I loved it. The author has a great sense of humor.
By the way, I also just read Match, which is about when Hogan and nelson played Ken venturi and Harvey Ward. It was one of my favorite books ever.

Excellent book from an average fan with a budget's view. Some of the off-course incidents were funny.
You will enjoy it even if you are not a huge Tiger fun.

I read somewhere that the book didn't even start out as a book about Tiger. The author is a golf fan, loves the game and was going around to all the tours and realized the thing to actually write about was in fact Tiger, and not the tour experience from an amateur fan's point of view.
peace.
