Well I'm back out to Scottsdale in a couple of weeks and after lining up some of my favorite links to play I began to worry a bit about my playing partners on this trip.
I'm a solid 7 handicap and can usually make my way around a challenging course.
My guest group however has a make up of two 15 handicaps, a 20+.
I have booked so far for our four days:
Day 1) Talking Stick South
Day 2) Wee-Ko-Pa Cholla
Day 3) Likely Legend Trail, May try the "new" TPC Scottsdale ( Troon N and Boulders are
booked up).
Day 4) Gold Canyon Dinosaur
Obviously I want these guy's to have fun and I began to worry they may be overwhelmed by desert golf.
Maybe throw in a Wigwam Gold or something like that ?
FYI- We're staying in the Cave Creek area.
Suggestions? Thoughts?
Thanks,
Brad

I remember playing Wigwam Gold back in the late 80's and early 90's when I played high school golf in Phoenix. Good course and very forgiving. If you are in Cave Creek area and want a course that is kind of forgiving. Try out The Legends or Arrowhead. They are just west of you off of the 101 loop, I believe. There are some other good courses out in that area as well. It has been a while for me, but I don't know what new courses are in the area or what changes have been made. I don't know how good or bad the course has gotten, but when I was growing up in the area, the 500 Club used to be a good layout with some interesting holes.
Good luck on your trip and enjoy.
p.s. forgot to add Camelback or Rancho Manana. That was a really good course that I remember.

You've ignored both of the Coore and Crenshaw courses that are most highly regarded:
- We-ko-Pa Saguaro course is really wide and forgiving and a lot of fun played from the proper tees.
- Talking Stick North course - more "deserty" than the South course, but won't beat you up.
Lots of clever holes and quirky features that you don't find on many modern courses. Both Talking Stick and We-Ko-Pa are great because they are core golf courses with no surrounding real estate.
I would not bother with Rancho Manana.
Grayhawk Raptor?
TPC Champions course is fun and reasonably priced. The stadium course is overpriced and overrated.
Have fun!

Thanks for the feedback guy's. I hope I still have friends when we get home.
Here's the line up.
1) Talking Stick -South
2) We-ko-pa -Cholla
3) Legend trail ( great tract)
4) Troon N. Monument- Got it at $130.00 so I better not here any bitcin !
I'm sending each of the guy's three dozen pV1's to lessen the pain.
Cheers,
Brad

I second Rancho Manana and the 500 Club. Both courses are a lot of fun.
