I walk and carry 60+ rounds per year. I am on my 3rd bag in less than 3 years. went through a ping hoofer lite, sun mountain mini and most recently an ogio vapour lite. all wore out (in various ways) very quickly.
any suggestions

Good luck. I feel that recent designs do not incorporate longevity.
I would be happy to be found wrong.

I agree durability is an issue. I play about the same number of rounds and have been able to get two years out of Sun Mountain 3.5. I have had two of them. had to replace the straps on one. Though Sun Mountain sent it at no charge. I have had good experiences with them over the years. My current 3.5 i had to do a little sewing on it. Mostly around the pocket zippers from stuffing extra cloths in the pocket. Its part of playing in a cooler climate. I love the weight of the 3.5 so I think its a tradeoff. A more durable bag will end up weighing more. Being in my 50's I don't think i want to carry any extra weight.
So I recomend the 3.5 but your are not going to get more than a couple of seasons out of it and you might have to do a little sewing.

I log lots of miles on foot as well and experienced the same thing. Apparently durability is pretty low on the list of priorities for stand bags. I've had to repair my last two (nike slingshot and ogio sticks) in various fashion, re-attaching or reinforcing straps and legs using nut-and-bolt and even drywall anchors. Kind of pathetic really and it irks me how disposable even higher-end brand name stuff is designed to be. Feh.

Directive number one from the chairmans office of most companies when designing bags or accessories guys is.....................................
"Oh and boys!!.....lets not make this new model last tooo long eh? Hell!! we gotta sell a few units next year too you know!!! and one last thing lads....whos turn is it to wash my ferrari??"
B$^&$d's the lot of them!!
There was a lot to be said of those old vinyl bags we used to all use!
I only wish i could recommend a solid bag to you!?? They are all much of a muchness these days........

I think the ultra light bags are not as durable as the normal stand bags. I carried a Hoofer during my junior and senior year of high school, and only retired it because I have become a bag HO since then. I carried that bag for at least 200 years and it was still fully functional.

Never tried a Hoofer Lite, but the older Hoofer designs are solid. I walk and carry most of time and mine is on year 4 and still in great shape. Maybe check eBay for an older unused Hoofer.

Like "Tenemenntrock" above; I have used the Ogio sticks for the entire 2008 season.
unlike "Tenementrock" ; I have not had any problems. I put, easily, 40 to 50 games in with it and a few airplane trips in a travel bag.
I plan to use it next season, too. Bag still looks good.
the woode system is brilliant; the legs are not great; it has the same issues with the legs that you can read about involving other Ogio stand bags .

I'm in the same boat and not sure which way to go with a bag. I'm still using my Ping Hoofer from 1998 and except for some wearing on the straps and a fray here and there it's rock solid. I would guess higher end ping would be the way to go as far as quality, but I'm looking to downsize to the lightest bag possible. The light bags these days though seem to have much thinner materials that give you a feeling they might tear easily. Interested myself in finding a quality bag.

I bought a Ping Hoofer sometime in 1998 or 99 and used it for three years before selling it to a friend. He still uses it and it has stood the test of time so to speak. I purchased a another Hoofer bag two years ago and the only reason I'm thinking about getting another bag is b/c I want another color, but it'll be another Ping bag.

doesn't sound like you have this problem but just in case, NEVER ride or use a pullcart with the ultralight bags its terrible for them.
