Being from the US, I used interesting foreign currency as a ball mark. I like to use coins that have another coin set in them/ two-tone, such as the euro dollar coin. Anyone have a special ball mark?

I use a 2 Kroner or 5 Kroner coin.

Studied abroad in Denmark and these just became my ball markers after that trip...been using the same 2 since 2001.

I've used a Kroner before, but I normally use a 191X Buffalo Nickel. Bull side up, its head pointed toward the hole.
I'm on my second one, since I accidentally gave my first one to some bum. Now I'm incredibly anal about making sure I put everything back in my bag as soon as my round is over.

I don't have one in particular. I have a handful of those free plastic ones that courses give away floating around in my bag. I usually grab a couple of them at the start of the round and might use one of them more than the other if I happen to make a long putt.
One of my regular playing partners has a ball marker he bought at Reynolds Plantation that he uses quite often. Most everything at that resort is priced rather aggressively and he paid something like $10 for it. About half the time we play I'll make some wisecrack about every putt of his should go in considering what he paid for that ball marker.

Used to play with a Canadian Toonie ($2 coin), until one of my playing partners noted how thick it is, and jokingly (but seriously too) asked why I didn't use a manhole cover.
Since then, I've typically just used whatever coinage I have in my pockets...usually a penny because its easier to spot on the green.

I like to use a 1965 dime.
It's small, shiney and 65 is my lowest round.
I've been known to play with a 1974 dime... my highschool football number.

I went to ireland with my grandfather this summer and kept quite a bit of change from the trip. I also met a nice member of a club while there who i not only payed with but i was also invited back to his house along with my grandfather for food and enough beer to kill a horse (after we had drinks at the club. And on a side note he lived on the course so we got back to his house safely), all i can say is i have a friend for life is a country across the globe and plan on visiting again.
To add to the post i sent him each of the canadian coins when i got home with an explaination or thier worth and he told me he and his sons shared the coins and use thm as ball marks so its nice to know from my perspective that they have those.
I also ALWAYS use a 50 piece that i got while in ireland and a couple other coins that my brother brought back from europe.
Always makes me think of my trip

I used a Canadian loony ($1 coin). I'm from the U.S. but my wife surprised me with a trip to Canada for our anniversary a few years ago so ever since then I've used it as a ball marker. A little sappy I guess but she is a saint.
On a side note similar to a previous post. I only had one of the coins from the trip and one day when playing at home I couldn't find it, I was going nuts looking for it. One of my friends was going crazy listening to me. I finished the rount without the ball marker and was pissed, the next weekend I show up to play and that same friend had a roll of Canadian $1 coins for me. He said he had called some employees in Canada, told them the story, and asked them to send down a roll of loonies. When he handed them to me he said "Here, this will shut you up! You can't lose them all on the same day!"
Great friend and very funny.

I either use an old Australian half-penny minted in the '60s (Kangaroo one side, Queen Elizabeth II the other)...or a 2 Euro coin (easier to see then copper)

I use a two shilling coin I found on the course one day. It's dated 1966, the year England won the World Cup

I wouldnt call it lucky but I use a SF 49ers ball marker

I've been a fan ever since I was a kid growing up in the Bay Area. I think now when I miss a makeable putt I am going to go off like Singletary did this weekend and send myself to the showers

Plain old random quarter works best for me. Dollar coin if I want to go fancy. Last thing I need out there is to worry about minding and hanging on to some special keepsake marker. I've lost 'special' ballmarkers enough to know 1) that it's not that hard for them to fall out of a pocket unnoticed and b) losing stuff on the course is distracting.

1956 Quarter. Back then, they were silver. About '64 or so, they went to the clad type. Don't see many before then in circulation, but they can be picked up on ebay for little. Why 1956? Year of birth! Heads or tails, it doesn't matter.

Two nickels, for how many putts I want per side ( you can't expect to one putt all the greens

). But seriously one day I had a great putting round and I only had two nickels in my pockets, and I was rotating them. So I'm gonna rock that for awhile.

I have a variety of foreign coins given to me by friends and family. I also have a UNC Tarheels marker I've been using lately to support Davis Love III in his quest to stay in the top 125.

1993 Irish 10 pence piece. Given to me by a friend who passed away. Sentimental over superstition.

My daughter, Penny, was born in May of 2008... So I like using any 2008 penny that I find.
