i'm thinking of planning another trip to orlando this feb. went last feb and played harmony, ocn-panther lake, and drove out to world woods and played both courses there. had a blast.

last year, harmony was my warm-up round and thought it filled the role perfectly. the only thing is, i don't want to drive as far this year. can't remember exactly how long it took, but it was close to a 45min drive iirc coming from lake buena vista. and i only made the drive out to ww because i was told it was a must play if i wasn't sure i'd ever be going back to the area. worth it, but don't plan on doing that trip again.

anyways, i'm looking for a new "warm-up" round type of course. but i don't want to be playing a dogtrack either. some courses i had in mind were stoneybrook west(kind of in the higher end of the range i'm willing to pay), orange lake-legends and remington. i'd love to hear any other suggestions in that price range though, but not too far from lbv please.

also, i fully plan on going back to panther lake as i absolutely fell in love with that course, but had planned on one other semi-upscale course. was planning on celebration, but i'm open to any other opinions in that price range. thanks as always.

Deer Island is a little ways away, but fun. Forest Lake can be hit or miss. Stoneybrook West has the tifeagle greens and is an easy drive. I would make the drive to Harmony or Southern Dunes personally. I am not all that familiar with kissimmee, I imagine others will post soon. Have a good trip.

thanks for the response! deer island was a thought, but it's just too far, and that's pretty much the only reason i don't wanna go back to harmony, although i thoroughly enjoyed the course. forest lake is another i'm considering, but don't know if it's any better/worse than sb west. southern dunes, although it looks like a fantastic course, just looks a bit too far and for the most part is out of my price range for the type of round i'm looking for...unless you meant it as a replacement for celebration.

thanks again, and please keep the rec's coming.

Falcon's Fire in Kissimmee, near Mickey Mouse, is a pretty good track. I just played in a Club Champions Tournament there. (Missed qualifying by 6 shots).

Try Sugarloaf Mountain...new course with lots of elevation changes...was just down there a few weeks ago...pretty awesome!

Have to agree with Falcon's Fire. Nice course, just off the Osceola Parkway I think.

If Sugarloaf Mountain is possible I have heard great things about it, just though it was quite private, although new. If you can get on go for it. Maybe golfnutz can fill us in a little ,would love to hear about the round.
The bad thing about Orlando is that you have to drive to get to most of the good courses. Many are worth the effort in my opinion. I haven't been there in a while but Victoria Hills in Deland was very nice when I was there. I have heard some guys say otherwise so check it out if interested. Hilly like Sugarloaf which is unique to FL. Just off I4
Just my 2 cents Falcons Fire isn't worth much and I didn't play bad. I didn't find the design that interesting. Would maybe play it in the summer when rates are lower. Timicuan would be in that category too (rates wise) if you were looking at it. Basically though you gotta drive.

honestly, i don't necessarily need the courses to have dramatic elevation changes as i'm from the northeast, so i already get plenty of that. i just don't wanna play a course that's flat as a pancake. that's why i enjoyed ocn-panther lake so much and wasn't incredibly impressed with world woods pine barrens. not saying that pine barrens is overrated or what not, but i just didn't fall in line with all the hype. excellent course and unbelievable practice facilities, but i just wasn't in awe of either course.
so in essence, i'd like some elevation, but dramatic elevation changes aren't a "must".
