I bought some of these today, and while it isn't even close to cold enough here in Houston for them, I can't help but notice a difference with them on. I hate wearing a jacket when I play, and I am naturally pretty warm natured. I think these will be perfect for here since it never gets that cold. Has anyone got these? What are your thoughts? I should add that so far I don't think it will be an issue keeping them on. I hit some balls with them on, and they didn't move at all. Look forward to hearing from my fellow WRX'ers.

i got them as well last week. played in the morning yesterday 1st group at 65*... i was impressed on how well they kept me warm. unlike you tho, im actually naturally colder most of the time and hate wearing jackets b/c it restricts my movement. 10/10 for me.
El Crab
I've had them for quite a while. I got a lot of grief about them at my old job, they referred to them as Scooter Sleeves (my first name is Scott). But I LOVE them. Just used them tonight, actually, hitting range balls in 50° weather.

I started using them last year and they are great. I am usually hot natured, so I don't do jackets very often. I like wearing short sleeeves and when it gets cooler I throw on the sleeves. If it really starts to get chilly I add a sweater vest. I hate feeling restricted with my swing. The stay up and keep the chill off!! Two thumbs up!
rblmp32
How do you put them on? Do they just slide on, or do they come apart and attach with velcro? I'm considering these for those times this fall when I can wear a vest and avoid wearing a jacket. smile.gif

rblmp32,
What's up Hickory Nut! You just slide them on just above your bicep, just between the bicep and shoulder. I think you will find them handy. Since we have very similar climates! Take it easy!!

They're great! I ran into a deal on them last year and bought the whole lot then passed the deal onto people here for $10-$15 per pair (can't remember exactly).

I wore them a good bit last year and loved them. I'm the type that can't stand to wear a jacket or be bulked up while playing...here in GA, there aren't many days where these aren't enough to keep you warm enough to at least hit an hours worth of balls on the range.
joshpike
I've had them since last winter and give them a 10/10, easy. They stay in place and do exactly what they're supposed to. They're perfect for down here in Georgia and for that morning round that starts out chilly and gets warm on the back 9.

Thanks guys for the responses. Sounds like they will be perfect for me.

I'm here in Houston also. Been using the Nike Sleeves as part of my 'golf uniform.' The main reason I wear them is to protect from the sun. Golfers are exposed up to 6hrs uninterrupted of direct sunlight of a golfing day. That much UV radiation is not good for the good old dermis. I wore them throughout the summer, along w/ long pants, a big billed hat, and some opera make-up... uh, I mean sunscreen.

I rotate 4 pairs in-n-out of my bag during the wk.

I guess you can use these sleeves for the cold, too. Hmmm.... wink.gif

I am going to get another set tomorrow. I got the black ones, but I think I will get a white set as well.

How do they hold up in the wash?
Snax
I bought a pair this summer and have come in handy quite nicely over the last 3 weeks as the weather in Ohio has gotten quite colder. Im really glad with them as they are easily on and off and dont have to hassle with a big jacket or pullover. Also even on the nice days it can cold due to the wind or riding in the cart... overall there a great purchase

treat them like all your other dri-fit materials, cold/cold wash with like colors and tumble dry.
ZBigStick
Pretty cool.

Did Lance Armstrong give them the idea for this?

Kinda pricey at $25 but a sound solution for golf in Atlanta. It went from 55* and cloudy to 70* and sunny this past weekend in half a round.

How do the sizes work? Shirt size or bicep size. I wear a large in Nike shirts but I see they come in M/L and L/XL.
BankerGolfer
I love them. Ordered a set of black and white ones. Be sure to measure for the correct size though.

I have a 13" circumference around my bicep, which translated perfectly to a Medium/Large size (Nike). That size covers 12" to 14".

FYI - bike riders have been using these sleeve warmers for years....

...been using them for years.... ..but nike's are a bit pricey...i get mine from bike shops..

I love these sleeves, I have the black ones but I can't seem to get my hands on the white pair anywhere, guess I'll have to order them sad.gif.

I find I can't swing as well with a jacket on and the sleeves seem to be able to give you a little bit more give in that area. A jacket will beat the sleeves on a rainy day (unless its a warm rainy day) and harsher winds though.

Been Using these all year in Colorado. They are money when it gets cold. First time i ever played with them we were the first group off last march. It was below 40* and i had these on under my ZR wind breaker. They kept me nice and warm while they didn't restrict movement at all.
TM golf guy 182
I wore them to school yesterday morning. It was in the mid 50's and breezy. Kept my arms plenty warm until it warmed up. No need for them today though, high is 81°. tongue.gif
One_Putt_Blunder
I use the under armour long sleave thermals work out real nice not restrictive at all and beats the hell out of wearing a jacket or pull over since they are not restrictive. perfect for our blistering cold 45* days here in december and january hahaha.
generalbolg
two words: under. armour.

there is nothing better for cold weather golf (or any sport) than the cold gear. Its skin tight and stretchy, so theres basically zero restriction. keeps you warmer than you could ever imagine. Played yesterday in a polo and under armour. it was 55 and very windy and i was lightly sweating as i walked. ive been out there below 40 with the stuff and have absolutely zero complaints.

kinda pricey, but well worth it. i dunno what it goes for now, i get all the under armour stuff for free. i think its b/w 40-50 though.

I have a set of ones that the USA team had for the Ryder Cup. They never used them because it never got cold but they are pretty cool. They are Navy with red stiching with a American flag on the cuff. Cant wait to break them out

Can anyone tell me how the sizing goes. I know they have to be tight... Do they shrink after washing..

This is directly from the box:
Small- 10-12 inches
Medium- 12-14 inches
Large- 14-16 inches

There is a very slight amount of shrinkage when you put these in the wash. Barely noticeabe at all.

When I was in college we would play a lot of early morning rounds when it was cold. Being in Alabama, it would warm up fast and by the back 9 you wouldn't need a jacket or pullover. But you would have to put the jacket or pullover in your bag and that just added weight to the bag. So I had this "great" idea for removable sleeves, but I never acted on it because I couldn't think of a good way to keep them from sliding down. This was before the skin tight materials. Damn, I could be a rich man by now!!

I can't seem to find any online, do you know of any stores online that sell them? Or perhaps the brand that the ones you buy are? smile.gif
boon44
I think the black and white are available at TGW. Just go to the website and type in "sleeves" in search.

I've had them over a year, and many people who gave me crap about them now own them. I can't see living life without 'em! Perfect for a lot of things other than golf. It's really nice when you go to the bars on a cooler night and you don't want to bring a jacket.

If you're in the UK, try http://www.wiggle.co.uk/c/Cycle/7/Arm~Leg_Warmers/

Or search ebay for cycling arm warmers. Lots there.

I wish that I'd have found this thread before I started my own. I was/am debating on the sizes. I'll probably go with the M/L. I hope that they stay in place, no sliding, etc., and hopefully I'll like them. There's no substitute for my Muirfiled jacket! But I'm sure that these will be nice during the brisk, Ohio mornings...when the golfing season comes around. I'm going crazy! I HAVE to golf soon, or else...good thing I have vaulted ceilings!
