Hey All-
I have a client meeting near Irvine CA and we are looking to get out on a Friday afternoon and a Saturday am. So what are the best places to play?

thanks!

Pelican Hill is spectacular. Strawberry Farms and Oak Creek are both decent tracks. Check them out.

Mother in law lives a skip fron Oak Creek - I was almost was ambushed by a coyote! The course never seems to be busy late afternoon -great twilight track!

If you like to work the ball I recommend Navy Course in Cypress. Tiger grew up on that course!

Pelican Bay was just renovated. Go there definitely. On the water (Newport Beach).

Try to get on Trump's course near Palos Verdes.

Was down there last year and got a round in, Strawberry something.

IT'S BEAUTIFUL....Also Oak Creek, Talega, Monarch Bay, Strawberry Farms....

Strawberry Farms isn't all the great in my opinion. Nothing visually pleasing, some greens were discoloring and had a ton of pitchmarks. That being said, I think Oak Creek has become one of my favorite courses. Visually pleasing, in much better shape then Strawberry farms and a tad cheaper then Strawberry. Pelican hill course by Fazio is just wonderful. BTW, Oak Creek is a Fazio design also.

Pelican Hill all the way. They have 2 courses, so you can play one on Friday and the other on Saturday.

jcholman- Where did you play? I live in OC and Im interetsted to hear how it was. Oak Creek and Pelican Hill are both great courses if you are willing to pay $150 and over on the weekend. Under $100 I recomend Arroyo Trabuco and Tijeras Creek. Both are in Mission Viejo about 15mins south of Irvine. Arroyo Trabuco is awsome for the price!!! Hope you had a good stay...

Got to agree. Arroyo Trabuco is a great track for the price. I use to take lessons there, awesome place!

Fkim, do you post on 6speedonline?
Bobby Uchida
Hey guys currently take lessons at Arroyo Trabuco and a course i would really recommend is Aliso Viejo Country Club which is still public at the moment i believe. Someone correct me if im wrong. Played there when it was under construction due to the instalation of nearly 500 homes and it was only 15 holes and played the first three over for 16 17 and 18. Great holes and played for as little as 24 dollars. Arroyo can be pricey at times. My high school team plays out of Moanrch beach, which is also a great course, but pricey as well, and EL Niguel, which is private but a great course if you can get on.

Pure, yes I do.

LOL! I thought I recognized "phrankandbeanz" I post there too.. dont have my p-car anymore but still has 6 gears and more trunk room. smile.gif

We need to get some OC WRX'ers together and hit the links.. with the amount of people i see obsessing over clubs at Roger Dunn's.. I figure I'm not the only one lurking on here.

Aliso Viejo Country Club is now private.

Yeah my ID at 6Speed was phrankandbeanz but I just recently changed it to Fkim011. I thought it was needed for a more grown up change..too bad I still act like im 5...
Pure745
LOL! I posted on your for sale post that's why you sounded familiar.. my name is Hansel on 6speed..

PM me.. lets play sometime soon..
jcholman
Thanks for all the posts guys. Trip is the first week in Nov so I wanted to get some advanced scouting. I am thinking Pelican Hill or Oak Creek. I love Fazio course my dad's CC is a Fazio design and I love his green designs.
Pure745
If you book times at both of those courses, you need not look around any further.. those are top notch.

Monarch Beach is also super nice..

A bit OT, but the Rodger Dunns in Anaheim is awesome. Tiny little store, but it is stacked with clubs. Best part is there is a driving range where you hit into a big lake onsite. They will let you hit demo clubs until your hands bleed there.
Pure745
have you been to the one in Santa Ana??? OMG.. biggest store i've ever seen.
sharkiesj
Don't know if you were aware, but back in June, the RD in Santa Ana had plans to move toward Edinger Rd. to a complex that was 3 times bigger than their current store this October. That would be absolutely the most massive golf store in the world. However, being that Cali is suffering economically, they changed their minds and decided to stay.
