Ok, so Ive been keeping track of my unofficial handicap on Golfhound.com and its says Im at a 5.8 which I feel is pretty solid, but I don't know if its true to my game. Problem is that I play alot of golf on par 33 course due to the convenience and ability to play 36 holes for the price of 9. So, I tend to shoot right at par on these courses if not a few under and then when I play 18 on a par 72, I'm usually right around 80 or so. So, should I not keep track of my scores on the par 33 while tracking my handicap?

You are required to enter your scores for HCP for any rounds that are played under the Rules of Golf. If the course has a rating and slope, you need to enter scores. You cannot pick and choose which scores you enter (that would be considered sandbagging). Even partial rounds are entered. For example if you play 15 holes of an 18 hole round, you still report the score. The USGA HCP site has information on what to do for those circumstances.

Are those the requirements for keeping an "unofficial" handicap ? LOL

No, but an "unofficial" HCP can't be used anywhere. If you're going to truly maintain a USGA HCP that you can use in tourneys, etc., my advice applies.

Obviously not, but what would be the point in keeping an unofficial handicap if you don't want to play by the rules?
