Hey - I know this has been asked before but I figured that opinions change over time. I am in the market for an oversize grip. I went to Golfsmith and picked up a putter with the new Winn Jumbo Pistol and really liked it. For $9, I picked one up. But here is my question to you - which oversize grips do you use, like, or don't like? And why? I imagine the major options are BigLite, SuperStroke, Tiger Shark, and the Winn Jumbo Pistol. Thanks!

I have the Yellow Tiger Shark on 2 of mine and they seem to work pretty decent for me. I also have a superstroke on one of mine, but I think that one is coming off today. Takes the meaning of the word HUGE to a new dimension.

I like the new Winn oversize grip. I have it on my Spider and it's been money.

Helps people apply the right amount of grip pressure. And keep their arms in the "Y".

The theory behind a big grip is that it takes the "hand" out of the stroke. Suppose to help you with wrist breaking down. Frankly, if you are having problems try everything till you find something that works. I have never had these kind of problems, but I have friends that have gone left hand low, belly putters, short putters, you name it I have seen it.

Personally, I never like oversize grips. They made me feel like I was holding on to a flagpole and putting with it. And i never had as good of a feel with them.

Does that include hitting all your clubs right-handed, but then putting left? or vice-versa?

Another vote for the tiger shark, I have tried the winn avs grip and it is just too soft. I tried the two thumb one also, but think the tiger shark is the one to keep. I have it on my heavy putter and a nike putter I own. Still have baby T on my Scotty but that might get changed over also. The winn is on a white hot #1 blade and just feels too soft and spongy. If it was firmer like the tiger shark I would say it was perfect. Tiger Shark also as good markings on it so that you can grip it consistently.
I did play with a guy that did have right handed clubs but his putter was left handed. I have just started to use the claw grip for putts inside 10 feet, regular grip for long lag putts.

I will never go back to a standard size grip. The Winn jumbo pistol has really helped my consistency. I'm a decent putter to begin with, but this grip has helped take my wrists out of the stroke. It may not be for everyone, but if you are sometimes "handsy" with your stroke give it a try. Now if I could just keep my head still all the time.......LOL
Btw, these big grips do effect the swingweight significantly.

I have been using the Winn AVS Jumbo and now the Odyssey version. I like the feel of the Odyssey's texture a little better.

I had a Winn midsize but after using it for a bit I realized it was 3-4 degrees crooked and I had to have it cut off. I put on a Lamkin Jumbo which felt great but was REALLY HEAVY and it backweighted my club so badly that instead of taking my wrists out of the stroke... it made my stroke super wristy. No pendulum effect possible with that much weight in the grip. I am back using normal size grips and loving them.
I would definitely use an IOmic jumbo grip. I think the IOmic is the best grip I have ever tried. it is really simple but it has very subtle differences in the curves and in the feel of the material from other grips that make it awesome.

I use the Tiger Shark Jumbo on a Odyssey #2 white Hot. This has been my best putting season in years!!!! I think the extra weight of the grip really balances this putter out. It just feels right! I cant stand using a regular grip now.
If you have not tried a jumbo grip and want to try it out. Just take a small towell and wrap it around your current grip and then use masking tape and wrap the whole grip. This will give you a general idea of what the jumbo grips feel like and what they do to your stroke. This is what I did and loved the feel of it so I went a head and bought the grip.

I used an air compressor to put my grips on so I can take them off with the same method without cutting them off. It works great if you got the gear and makes it easy to change grips without destroying them.

how do you use a compressor to that? I have heard of it before but never really asked how you do it.

you need the attachment that you would use to spray dust out of your keyboard and such. First clean the shaft to remove all residue from the old tape. Then get the grip started and put the small air tube into the hole at the end of the grip. Then use short bursts of air and keep forcing the grip on. It works great and you can remove the grip the same way. Grip stays intact and can be used again.

I've tried all four that the OP mentioned and in order my preference was:
1. Tiger Shark
2. BigLite
3. Winn AVS
4. Superstroke
The Tiger Shark was the overall best, all take the hands out of the stroke, but the Tiger Shaft had the best feel of the bunch. You felt the results of the stroke in your hands immediately. The Big Lite was the lightest but was dead to the hands. The Winn was just okay, it had a real squishy feel - the impact feel (when ball contacts putter) for me is a huge component to a grip. I like it was there's a response back to your hands. Not too dead feeling, but something you can respond to.
The SS was the worst of the 4. Too heavy, no feel, ugly, etc.
