Hi guys,
Just relocated from US east coast, wondering what do you guys wear during winter golfing here in UK, primary in London to keep you warm?
Cheers,

In all seriousness though, I live in South Manchester, and the main item I find helps is a nice warm woolley hat. That takes cares of a lot of the heat loss problems, as you would normally lose loads of heat through your head. Also, keep your feet warm, good shoes and thick socks. This way, I find I have to wear less restrictive clothing on my torso; keeps the swing free.
Another thought is try a good thermal underlayer, Under Armour and Canterbury are the two brands that immediately spring to mind. Haven't got any myself yet, but certainly plan to before the winter starts!!
Hope this helps.

R14 insulation should keep the lads warm.

Underarmour with Galvin Green over the top and a nice warm hat. Good waterproof shoes

Don't forget your woolly hat! A good set of waterproofs not only keep dry but will also keep you warm in winter too. Best tip - when you walk between holes, keep your hands in your pockets!

Another vote for the Under Armour, specifically the Cold Gear though !! Absolutely essential with this pleasent weather we have over here !!
Then the usual Gore Tex waterproofs, good shoes, wooly hat, bucket hat, mitts and if affordable a caddie, who can juggle everything like a octopus in order to keep your gloves/grips dry when it gets too wet!
Welcome to the UK !!

Handwarmers, like these.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mycoal-hand-warmers-...1QQcmdZViewItemOpen one up, and it magically heats itself up. Keep it in your pocket, or in your winter mitts.
Also: woolly hat, base layer, and a tube neck scarf (great for stopping rain getting under your collar).

Strangely enough the cheapest place I have bought Galvin Green was in the Devere Hotels golf course shops. Ebay is always handy though if you know the size that you want and best to check, as Galvins always seem small on their sizing.

Agree with all of the above. The base layers (under armour, etc) that have become avaliable over the last few years are brilliant for playing in the cold. Wearing a roll neck under a polo, then a wool sweater and a waterproof was really restricting, but this modern clothing really makes winter golfing easier.

The old faithful Helly Hansen Lifa thermals are still on active service under a polo neck when it gets really chilly. In icy breezes I tend to use a Wind Stopper T-shirt that's basically a metalised ironing board cover shaped like an item of clothing. Very effective.
In all seriousness though, unless the OP's from Maine, you won't be all that cold in London even in the depths of winter. Siberia it ain't.

T-shirt, polo then woolen jersey. Pair of thicker trousers and a pair of walking socks. woolly/lined hat. only if it's really cold and windy/wet will i wear a wind cheater/waterproof jacket and trousers.
Mind you i'm not a southern softie

What temperatures are you playing in?
I played yesterday in 39* with 20 mph winds and all I had on were shorts, a golf shirt and a pullover.
How can any of you move will all that gear on?

under armour is superb, longer than the galvin green which seems alot shorter and exposes your back,
not good in a cold wind
another thing i've found which i couldn't do without is a 'Buff' it's like a scarf & headgear combined and you can
wear it so many different ways FANTASTIC, look one up
i play on a very windy downland course

A 'buff???'
Isn't that a US Air Force term for one of their bombers?
I've got visions of it being like the dreaded snoods of 1980s vintage...

in the winter games, you can get them in ski/surf shops

I dont mind playing in low temperatures but a few things you should wear IMO:
Under amour-best first layer ever; go get yourself a cold gear shirt ASAP.
A turtle neck: Scarves tend to get in the way and to me look odd to wear while golfing.
THermal shirt-definite must cuz it helps keeps you insulated.
THe thing i like about this combois that its all lightweight stuiff and the warmer it gets, you simply take off layers. Also get the WinerSof gloves from FJ (or any other lightweight winter gloves that minimize loss of hand movement/feel but maximize warmth). Since you livin in the UK, you might wana try
these or otherwise get good waterproof shoes and wear extra socks. BTW you could also look into gettin
this; otherwise get ear warmers or a nice skull cap. Finally get hand warmers and a good rain suit along with good wind proof clothing.
edit: oh yea also wear long johns underneath your pants!

I am looking for some winter-clothes as well. Under Armour caught my attention, they seem to be great. I´m mainly looking for 2 or 3 longsleeve mocks, I think the coldgear line should do.
Anybody know, where I can get this the cheapest in Europe? Shipping from the UK shouldn´t be that high. Here in Germany they are not that common and pretty expensive.

"Galvin Green" and "Cheap " don't belong in the same sentence with each other, unless the word "Stolen" is included

Helly Hansen thermals, long sleeve mock neck from nike and either a nice snug jumper or something wind proof depending on conditions.
Just purchased some mittens as well which are essential.

Usual shoes, socks, trousers and polo shirt, if it is really cold will put a wooly jumper on. If it is raining heavily will put my bucket hat on. I don't really feel the need for a load of clothes when it is cold.
