My wife and I are driving down to Jekyll Island, Georgia on the 20th of October for a Family Reunion and 3 days of golf. The Reunion and Golf Outing is Fri, Sat, and Sun. We're leaving Long Island, NY on Monday, with the hopes of finding a nice public course in close proximity to Interstate 95 in the Carolinas somewhere. Someplace with motel accomodations nearby and not too expensive. I'm paying a bundle for the Reunion/Golf on Jekyll Island, but we would like to get a couple of practice rounds in. I am not what you would call a wealthy man, (But we're both decent golfers, I play off a 10 and my wife plays off a 16). Can anybody recommend a course that would fall into this category? Thanks.

Sorry about the triple post. Flood Control was the culprit!

The Santee SC. area may be just what you're looking for. It's about mid-way through the state of SC right along I95 and adjacent to lake Marion. I've been there on a couple golf weekends. There are 6-8 courses in the area that are fun to play and reasonably priced. The same with accomodations. You can take a look at this website Golf Santee or do a Google search for more links to the specific courses and accomodation info.
