Next August/ September I should have sometime off before I start work and the rest of my life. I am considering taking a golf trip. I am thinking the trip will be just me and one other guy. I don't have an unlimited supply of money, so I was figuring spend the money on golf, save on hotels and the like.

My plan is fly into Oregon and play Bandon Dunes/ Pacific Dunes/ Bandon Trials. Then drive down the coast and play Pasatiempo. Continue further down and play Pebble/ Spyglass. Maybe even extend the trip down to Torrey Pines.

The distance does not seem to bad. Only 11 hours from Pacific Dunes to Pebble and 7 hours from Pebble to Torrey. Obviously, I might not be able to play every top course because of financial restraints, but I figure I could get a lot of them.

Anyone have any other good golf roadtrips to consider? Any hidden gems on the West Coast to think about? How long in advance do you think I need to plan?

If you were to fly into Sea-Tac airport in Seattle.
Day 1 - Chambers Bay
Day 2 - Drive over Hwy 2 to Wenatchee (3.5 hr drive)
Day 3 - Highlander Golf Club or Desert Canyon then drive to Bend Oregon (about 5 hrs)
Day 4 - Tetherow Golf Club
Day 5 - Sunriver Resort - 3 courses to play.
You could fly out of Roberts Field in Redmond Oregon.

I've always heard that Pebble and Torrey are very, very hard to get on. Pebble you almost need to stay at their resort and Torrey you need to camp overnight. Again I'm no expert but thats what I've heard.

"Torrey you need to camp overnight"

This would not be a problem--I do it often for Bethpage Black. Staying at the Pebble Resort may be real tough on the wallet.

Skip Pebble, Overpriced, super slow, and honestly only a few memorable holes

Play Poppy Hills when when you're in Northern Ca.

You can do no better than the Bandon Dunes experience..spend 3 days there play as much golf as you can.
Take the drive to Pebble...heck you can walk every hole there without paying to play, same at Spyglass.
Personally, by the time you have played the Bandon courses, Poppy Hills will appear overpriced and way inferior, not worth th money.
Pastatiempo a must and good value, especially versus Poppy.
Also on the way down fron Oregon a good Mackenzie built 9 holer calle Northwood worth a visit and cheap.

I cant imagine a better golf destination than Bandon. It was the best 4 days of golf I have had.

You could always stop in SF and play Harding Park,
Plus another course that I have always liked and is right on Highway One is the Half Moon Bay old Course, between SF and Santa Cruz

Check with Pebble because they do have package offers that include lodging and rounds at Pebble Spyglass and Spanish Bay that are cheaper than booking a room and rounds seperatley. I like the Idea of starting At Sea-Tac and catching Chambers Bay

stay away from Torrey as well, if this is a big important golf trip. Never in good condition, and you will be so upset paying that much to play it. Southern California is not a great destination for golf, people that live here think the same. Just a great place to be.
Bandon is amazing, Pebble and the courses around it are worth it as well. Or try something new like Cabo, go have fun, amazing cheap hotels, and sick courses

Thanks all. Definitely seems like Bandon is a must! If I end up not going with a golfing buddy, Cabo is definitely something I will consider. Thanks for the suggestions.
