I played Foxburg CC this past weekend. Foxburg CC dates all the way back to 1887 and is the oldest golf course in continuous operation in the USA. IT is also on the National Register of Historic Places. Before arriving I really wasn't expecting all that much here, maybe a worn out and old 9 hole track. I was wrong. I ended up playing 18 holes rather than 9 for the pricey sum of $25 with cart! Although quite short at around 5900+ yards with a par of 68, I still thought this course was fun and had a few really cool holes. It is tight and many of the greens are tiny by modern architectural standards. Big drivers can easily overpower this course, but greed can hurt here and you had better have a great iron game with the size of the greens and some tricky approach shots. The clubhouse was awesome as was the golf history museum on the top floor. They have a very extensive collection of extremely old golf clubs that are worth a 15 minute viewing once your round is finished.
Here are the pics...

Hole #1

Before tees were invented, we used sand. many of the holes were still sporting the carved stone sand holders. neat.

Hole #2

Hole #3, an uphill dogleg left.

Hole #4

Hole #5, the only par 5.

Hole #6, a tight par 3 with an awesome green/rear bunker.

Hole #7, a real favorite. Lots of options off the tee, about 295 downhill. Great golf hole!

Hole #8

Hole #9

Foxburg CC is located about 5-10 minutes south of I-80 and if passing thru, you should definitely play 9 holes! If I lived closer I would play here often, it was that much fun.
