During the FEDex playoffs I saw a pair of Puma/JL shoes worn by Jesper P. I have seen some of these shoes online but they appear to only be available in the UK....Has anyone seen these anywhere in the US? They are old-school nice! If not, can you recommend any retro inspired shoes?

Thanks!

KMeloney
If you're talking about the square-toe ones (that he wore all last year, and that I'm assuming he's wearing this year), then they're called JL Classics, and they are available in the US (I have a pair).

I got mine off of the US JL site last year.

There are some all-black ones on zappos.com, for starters. Do a Google search for JL Classic golf, search in "images," make sure we're talking about the same shoes, and then see what sites are selling them.

They are really cool shoes. Everyone asks me about 'em (or rips on me for them!). I just wish they were narrower (skinny feet here).

Not sure which shoes Jesper was wearing, but I have these JL/Puma's in the Carolina Blue color. Great shoes - got them at the Puma store in Myrtle Beach when I was there on vacation this summer in July.

Ebay Item #140268732263 - just put the item number in the search field

Thanks KMeloney! That is exactly the shoe I'm talking about. I have a couple of pairs of the regular Pumas and they are great, but I just love the classic retro look of those JL's! If your into that style check out Fairwaystyles.com. They have some sweet threads to match those bad boys.
Cheers!

Glad to help! Just get ready for the "Luther Vadross called -- he wants his shoes back" comments. LOL

Thanks for the fairwaystyles link. I've checked that out before and have it bookmarked. Unfortunately, I can't always afford my tastes. lol But that stuff is right up my alley.

Good luck!

Grab any you see as Puma and JL have gone their seperate ways. The Jl/Puma Classic is the one i think you are talking about and its an awesome shoe which we sold throu about three times at the kendleshire. JL will bring out a shoe of there own but not till 09/10

I just picked up two pair at a puma outlet...for $119 total. They were about 79 bucks, and half off the second pair. They're not the most comfortable shoes, but pretty cool looking.

The Classic is one of my all time favorites; I searched high and low to find my pair and I couldn't be more happy. It's the most stylish golf shoe I've ever seen; shame it's gone. If anyone knows where there might be some inventory let me know man; I'm in.

Has anyone tried the new Puma 'Smart Quill' technology golf shoes yet? It looks like an interesting design, and peaked my interest as I am reading a book on Hogan, and supposedly he would request that an spike be added to one of his shoes. Anyway I would love to hear a review on these.

I got the GTX, black with the white stripe.

Waterproof, comfortable, and the quill spike system works great - no slipping, very secure feel. The number of the 'spikes' also spreads out the pressure, had to wear them around a supermarket for a while after one round (!) and no problem....

Not excessive padding around the tongue and heel, which is a good thing. It's easy to put loads of padding in a shoe to make it feel soft and comfy in the shop - but better when out on the course and swinging if they're shaped and fit better.

Definitely recommend them.
