Golfwrx seems to have some sort of political tilt, I can't put my finger on it. Have you guys noticed certain comments just disappear off the sight?
I thought this site was free for all to comment and express opinions regardless of subject matter?
I like to see if anybody else has noticed the same things?
Thanks!
Oops, I can't believe I mispelled Golfwrx

Definitely, definitely not a free-for-all. Besides, political topics are taboo.
edit: golfwrx or golfworx?

Most of the comments that disappear need to. The moderating team does a great job here.
If you look in the 19th Hole, every time a political topic is started, it is quickly closed.

I am shocked....Comments that are useless or over the top are deleted without notice???

I can't believe that they are impinging on our first amendment rights of free speech...
I kid....I kid.
I don't have time to worry about little things like whether my precious post is going to be deleted...If it happens to get deleted there was probably a decent reason as to why it was removed.
I think the mods do a great job here and above all else they are still people too, with faults and opinions just like the rest of us.
The owners have a vision of what they want this site to be, and the mods are there to make sure that vision is adhered to or guided towards. Right, wrong or indifferent they are still the owners. I have also noticed several threads that have asked for opinions as to how to make GolfWRX better.
I have always been a proponent of leaving when you don't like the way things are run. Why put yourself through the torture if you think that it is wrong? No one is forcing anyone to be here. Last time I checked this is not Cuba.
Oops....sorry that might be too political.

I for one don't think this site has any political tilt. Even when beruo had his avatar theme as an ultra right winged theme (the one right before the gay pride theme) this site was strictly about golf. I read a lot of ridiculous posts from new members asking if a diamana is a good shaft, or that their swing speed is around 105 mph so should they play a 9.5 stiff. I even make quite a few ridiculous posts myself, but I have never seen a post about a sitting president, a war, the direction of the country, nor do I want to. I don't care how anyone on this site leans politically and I think the mods here do a great job keeping the content focused on golf. If you perceive a political leaning you are delusional.

Ah, no fair pulling up old PMs. I'd rather have the one about the former member here who you played golf with twice.

At any rate, thanks for jarring my memory on the old avatar. But in the interest of accuracy, the avatar was a pseudo-ultra right-wing in nature.
Anyway, back to topic. How do you all think Golfwrx sucks?

Nope, not in the slightest and that's one reason I like it here. The comments that disappear are almost always the ones that need to and moderating here is done with a very light touch - believe me as a mod on experts exchange, moderating is thankless and practically impossible task.
I think that it's pretty incredible that there are people on these boards whose posts I could recognise from style and content alone (although that is probably a sad reflection of how often I am here) as it shows that the moderating standard allows peoples characters to come through in the threads without degenerating into a flamewar.

Considering how well-known this site is, how big this site is, how many sponsors GOLFWRX has, and how well maintained this site is, I would say there could be.
Who cares. talk golf. stick with equipments. learn about swings. argue about your players or tournaments. buy and sell. Simple as that. Why cause trouble?

This very topic title WAS "Do you guys think GolfWRX is political?" to begin with. Now it says Golfworx and the OP isn't the one that edited it. Someone didn't like the thread title obviously.
Maybe he meant a different type of politics?

And I believe that you're correct. I didn't notice the thread title until just after I posted, but it was spelled wrong then (and I made note of that in my first post). But if memory serves, the Illuminati did do a flyby in their black helicopters just after this thread started, so I could be wrong.

Of course it's political! There are profound and deeply meaningful divisions between the Taylormade, Nike, Callaway, Titleist and Mizuno parties! Tempers flare! The debates are endless! Each party has its hard-core, true believers, but there are also the "independent voters" who go one way sometimes, and another the next. There's even the "issues" groups (you know, blades vs. CBs, or iron covers vs. no covers factions and etc.) ...

Seriously though, I find this site utterly,
refreshingly free of politics. Thank god. It is my refuge (as golf itself is).
I hope the mods keep immediately killing anything that has even the slightest scent of political discussions.

Do I think there are some topics that are closed or deleted...yeah. Do I think it's for the better good...I hope so. If not, we as a community of individuals will know and move on to other sites which better meet our "needs". The moderators have a tough (and often thankless) job of keeping this site clean to ensure that the greater good is served...
I've had 1 run-in in the 2 years I've been on this site. It was about some links I posted to some "unofficial" spy pics that the OEM asked GolfWRX to reframe from displaying them as the OEM was providing GolfWRX was getting an exclusive on the new clubs. I asked politely why it was removed and how I would know better for the future...and the moderator kindly replied with a simple, easy explaination...that's all I wanted.
Again...if the "censorship" of the site becomes bad or overbearing...it'll be felt and people will start to gravitate toward other sites.

I don't think the site is political. I do think that sometimes the mods are quick to shut down a thread(Michelle Wie, the lady suing the public golf course in New england come to mind), but what really gets my goat are the mods who comment and then close off a thread.....if the thread was worth a comment from you, then leave it open for the rest as well. Otherwise, "thread closed due to........." is all that should be posted.
I'm an old usenet person, so I learned to take advantage of the built in ability we have to ignore people we didn't care for. Didn't need moderators, they just went away when they weren't getting responses. But people needed to be able to put emoticons so these thigns have moved to forums. Sites need sponsors, and so...on it goes.
For what it's worth, this site is the most policed of the 5 main forums sites I go to. But they do keep the politics out, I will give them that.

The Op's thread rephrases the title as a possible "political tilt".
While political discussion is not allowed here and rightly so. I have seen a certain 'tilt' in what posts/threads stick and what doesn't.
Its not fair if one side gets an artificial fluffy lie every shot and the others play from divots...
I agree its bad form for the mods to 'get the last word' in before locking a thread.

I've yet to see a post get deleted because of an opinion. Not saying it doesn't happen, but I see a lot of deleted threads and posts and it's always over rule issue, not because of someone's perspective or opinion--and this is from years of close monitoring, not a couple months. Do a forum search of all threads with "GOLFWRX" in the title (or "golfworx"

), and you'll see how many of these type of threads are still floating around. We don't have too much to hide, and don't even delete the posts that administrators from other golf sites make regarding our operations (though the conflict should be EXTREMELY evident

).
As for the last word--I disagree with that point as well. Usually a thread gets locked either because the point has been made (dead horse-style), a rule has been violated (in dead-horse style), or is something along the lines of a dead horse picture. I think it's appropriate to either offer counter-point or to point out why a thread's been closed. Not for the sake of last word, but for the sake of making a point.
And on that note, I think it's time to close this down.

I see two possible avenues the OP is perusing.
1. Political with regards to Govt... In which case its never allowed here (Which I quite enjoy, because when I am thinking of Golf it's usually to getaway from any such thoughts).
2. Political as in Politically Correct... deleting certain modes of thinking. I agree with the previous posters who have stated the mods do as good a job as can be expected. The mods here encourage follow their Mission statement very well. And I am not interested in reading negative, snarky, demented posts by those with the and internet intellect of a 12 year old.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS. Kudos to the greates golf forum on the web.
