When I saw VJ had shot 64 with 8 birdies, I thought, wow his putting must be coming around. Then I saw the Stats on his 8 Birdies
149 yards to 18 inch putt
176 yards 2 ft putt
Tap in
2 feet
7 iron to 3 feet
7 iron to 12 feet
171 yards to 6 feet
3 feet
Thats a whopping 29 and a half feet of putts for 8 Birdies! I could do that.

How do you think he won the WGC Bridgestone? That's the Vijay Singh method to better putting - hit it closer to the hole.

The interesting thing about Vijay is that he somehow always turns out to be the one that steps up when Tiger temporarily exits the scene. (Tiger's been #1 almost since he started playing on tour - with the expection of 2004 - when he was in the midst of complete swing changes. In 2004, Vijay won 9 times ... and temporarily overtook Tiger at the top of the World Golf Rankings ... and won POY).
Now Tiger's gone again - and again, out of nowhere comes Vijay. Winning in a stunning playoff last week, and in 2nd going into the weekend tonight.
Phil? -2, 8 off the lead.
And what about Mr. "Player of the Year" Kenny Perry? He's + 1 ... 11 off the lead. Good thing there's not a cut, because he's tied for 93rd.

I'm not too sure about this... he's played a pretty poor second half of season up until the Bridgestone. He played bad in last two majors. And Phil is 8 off the lead after day one... not a big deal - especially considering the fact that the leader shot 61....

How about The Penguin (Tim Clark) today..............He's 10 deep through 13 holes today w/ 2 eagles. 15 under for the week w/ 94% GIR and 88% FW hit. That's just not right...

Pretty neat to have watched Weir and Clark play large portions of these absurdly low rounds on the broadcast the past couple of days. It was incredible to see how well they played shot-by-shot and still came up multiple strokes short. For me, this has really reinforced how amazing a 59 really is, not that I ever thought it was easy!

Yes ... you are correct. I'm still getting used to the idea of a "partial" cut (i.e. only 1/3 of the field gets cut, not 1/2).
This FedEx thing is just ... odd.
