Am travelling from Memphis to Lousiville for the Ryder Cup and are there any recommendations for golf courses not too far off the route to play along the way. (Taking I-40 to Nashville and then up I-65 to Lousiville)
Any help in this matter would be aprreciated
thanks

Are you a member of a Country Club? If so you may be able to get your pro to call Olde Stone in Bowling Green,KY. It will be one of the best and most difficult courses you ever play. Also this depends on when you are headed to Louisville. Olde Stone has the Junior Ryder Cup there the week of the Ryder Cup so it may be close to impossible to get on there.
If you arent a country clubber or cant get on there, Heritage Hills in Shepherdsville,KY is supposed to be a great new course and its 1 mile off of I65 about thirty minutes out of Louisville.
There is also Crosswinds in Bowling Green,KY. Its an ok but fun course and not too expensive as well.
Like the above poster said go to Kenny Perrys Country Creek in Franklin,KY and enjoy yourself.
Good luck and enjoy the Ryder Cup.

You owe it to yourself to stop in Bowling Green and play Olde Stone. One of the top 3 tracks in KY IMO.

Country Clubber or Public?? Changes things for sure as there are plenty of tough/nice private tracks on your way and especially in the surrounding Louisville area. Be glad to offer suggestions based on the response.

Greystone in Dickson, TN is about a half hour west of Nashville and is generally considered a very good bang for your buck. It's about 10 minutes off I-40.
A little more out of your way would be Hermitage - President's Reserve course. It's probably 20 minutes out of the way out East past the airport but it's the best public course in Nashville. More expensive than Greystone.

Couldn't agree more about Greystone, excellent course and probably one of the best values out there. Excellent zoysia fairways and very nice greens. It's a pretty tough course and has been host to several tournaments including a U.S. Open qualifier I believe. Very scenic course as well, both course and girls working carts and pro shop!
