sorry to anyone who is a fan or practicer of this cry...but what is the point when a guy is hitting a tee shot on a par 4 or 5 that has no chance of making the green.
just my 2 cents worth but it is a very annoying element to the game.

Holmes shot on 17 with the 3 wood was right at it and just short. I agree that he phrase gets old quick.

I think it's ridiculously played out. I remember watching KJ Choi last year and on his tee shot off a par 5 someone could be heard screaming that--give me a f'ing break.

heard it on 18 when ryan palmer was teeing off with a 3wd. kind of classless if you ask me and very childish. i mean its ok to blurt out if your ona par 3 and the ball is tracking for the hole, but when the guy is playing for position it just makes you look like an a$$.

"Get in the hole" is right up there with my other pet peeve, "You Da Man". I wanted to slap this guy at the Sony who yelled it constantly.

I kinda hate hearing "you're still away."
"GET IN THE HOLE," isn't that bad especially if it's your wife or girlfriend screaming it.
Sorry, couldn't resist...just kiddin'

Yeah that ranks right up there with "Git'er done" on my most hated outbursts. I could maybe understand if it is possible to reach the green but when some yahoo screams it on a 500+ par 5, I want to reach into my TV screen and strangle that moron.

I remember we had a competition once to come up with a phrase to replace 'gedindahole' the one that
got the most laughs and is still shouted amongst friends is 'Get in the fridge!' ........ just as meaningless, but became funny the more it was used.

I've got to agree - I hate both of these idiotic outcries on the course.

Frankly - it seems SO childish and idiotic.
OTOH - I"ve seen grown-up, adult high-powered executives screaming their lungs out at local Football Games, like idiots. Go figure - I guess people have to get their expressions out somehow, I suppose!

I think the people who still scream "Get in the hole!" at pro tournaments are being funny. I mean, no one would be stupid enough to scream it on a par-5 tee shot, right? That being said, it's unfunny. Just like, "I'm Rick James, b****!" it's played out.

ON the topic of yelling out, did anyone catch the story about the guy who was heckling Leonard? From what I read, he yelled "Nice Putt!!!" after JL missed a par putt, and Leonard confronted the guy at some point to the effect of "What problem do you have with me?" Eventually the guy was escorted out. One could argue that Tiger Woods and all these brutes off the tees are doing more harm to the game than just by reducing the PGA to driver wedge putt. Slowly we are seeing the gentlemanly aspect of the game disappear, both in the fans and the players (more so the fans in my opinion) Obviously, Tiger has his fans, but now some of these people are fans just because it's tiger, not because they love the game. To them, it makes as much sense to root against the other players not named Eldrick. Perhaps the Euros have a point about american fans during the Ryder Cup....

when someone says "ONE" it does make me want to dash across the tee box and attack them with my driver, but when playing with buddies and stuff like that if we don't say atleast one stupid golf phrase a hole we're trying too hard, lol.
