*You* should do it.
Then, in 10 or so years, you & your child can come back & let us know how it went.

Let's not forget that not even Tiger's name is Tiger!
You'd have to be a serious fan (with an understanding partner) to do anything like that.

Name him with a first name T (Tony, Tommy...) and middle name W (Willson, Wallie, ...) . To get TW, and instead of calling him by first name call him TW, obviously after Tiger Woods.

How about buying a pet tiger and naming it Eldrick?
Wanna name a living organism after an athlete, get a dog. So many people with dogs here near Boston that named them Brady nowadays...
Sucks when all those people had to live with their dog "Nomar" after 2003. I imagine some folks in Green Bay not only have to endure the whole retirement/trade saga with the Packers, but also have to be painfully reminded of it everytime they feed "brett" or pick up a mess made by "favre"!

sheez, who would name their kid such a stupid name. They would be unmercifully teased in elementary school. Kids need strong cool names. That's why I want to name my firstborn Han Solo . (For some reason the wife wants to overrule me on that one....go figure?)

I hadn't heard anything about that mate. I believe his name is still technically Eldrick Tont Woods.
From Wikipedia:
He got his nickname from a Vietnamese soldier friend of his father, Vuong Dang Phong, to whom his father had also given the "Tiger" nickname. He became generally known by that name and by the time he had achieved national prominence in junior and amateur golf, he was simply known as "Tiger" Woods.

I named my daughter Palmer.... for a number of reasons, one of which was due to the respect I had (as a golfer) for Mr. Arnold Palmer. I view him as not only an ambasador for golf, but as a true gentleman and sportsman. I can only hope, that as my daughter grows, that she'll read about Mr. Palmer and understand and share some of his admirable traits.

Secondly, I admire the man enough to name my future children after him, without a doubt.

There were two little twin boys that went to first grade. The teacher asked the first one what his name was. He said "my name is wagonwheel". The teacher said "now dont be funny, what is your name". The young man said "my is wagonwheel". The teacher took the two boys to the principles office. The principle asked the first young man "what is your name". The boy said "my name is wagonwheel" The principle said "now young man, lets be serious tell me what your name is". The young man replied "my name is wagonwheel". The principle said you are a liar. We are going to call your parents. The young man then said "but principle my parents had so many kids, that the just looked out the window and the first thing they saw, turned out to be our name". The principle said "well if you arent going to tell the truth then, you are going to have to go home". The young man looked at his twin brother and said " Come on lets go Chickenshit, no one wants to believe us".
Its all in the name isnt it.

Taking into consideration what some Hollywood jerk off's decide to disgrace their poor children with as far as names, it is not entirely out of the questions to commemerate that of which you individually prefer.
I worked with a guy at Union Pacific Railroad who names his 2 sons Harley and Davidson. I also have a cousin who named his children after famous Mexican Revolutionaries. Pancho (Villa) Mendoza, Joaquín {wah-keen}(Muriata) Mendoza, and Emiliano (Zapato) Mendoza.
Although, sometimes the reason and the names can be strange, it is not unheard of.
I named my daughter Nadia (Nod-Ya) after Nadia Comăneci, I thought the name was beautiful and my wife was an ELITE gymnast for 12 years and Nadia was her favorite.
My son is named after my wife's Father - Anthony Philip

There's a young English pro on the fringes of the European Tour called Seve Benson, named after the great man himself. Gotta be worth an endorsement or two for the name alone, surely.
