I've been there a few times on deployment and played golf at Dubai Creek and Al Badia. Both were good courses. It is pricey over there and it is hot and humid. There is a ton of stuff to do from sight seeing, restaurants, shopping, skiing indoors, you name it! It's a great place!

Sean,
I have a few friends over there already and have not heard anything bad. If you come back over look me up for a round. I plan on staying current on my favorite golf site....

I wouldnt plan on playing for then next month or so, 50+ Degrees plus every day, 90% humidity, its in the peak of Summer right now.
Abu Dhabi Golf Club is where you want to be playing.
Someone mentions courses in Dubai, thats 90km's away so plan to go on your Friday's if you want to play there, and you will need to drive no flights between the capital and Dubai.
Abu Dhabi is a great place, but its quite different to Dubai, so there isn't really a direct comparision between the too.
Plus Ramadan in September, not much happens during daylight hours.
So its going to be pretty quite will about October!

Thanks for the pic. I have already been in touch with the membership dept and am pretty sure I will be joining soon. I also have my eye on the new Gary Player course opening in 2009....

Thanks for the invite and I will. It's a constantly changing place and reminded me of sim city with all the new growth and construction so I'm sure you'll have even more courses soon! Stay cool!

I realize it's a bit late for a response as the last post was in July and you probably already moved to Abu Dhabi. So I won't spare the details. If you played the course already, you've probably realize there is a lot of construction in an around the club. Other than the construction, I would like to know what you thought of it. I've been living in AD since 2000, joined twice and left the club twice (as most recently as April) when the course opened and seen many changes.

A couple of idiots. When you're a guest in someone's country, you have to respect their laws and customs. We are afforded many things in UAE that we're accustomed to back in the West...such as nightclubs and bars where we can blow off steam but to get caught fornicating on the beach is just plain stupid. Like the saying goes "get a room".
