Hello, I was wondering if anyone could recommend reasonable golf club memberships (less than $10k) both private and semi-private courses. I live downtown so the closer, the better.
Thank you.

Ravisloe on the sw side of the city is a bargain these days - not the longest course, but a restored Donald Ross gem.

Wow, that will be really tough to find in the north suburbs. I know The Glen had a deal last year. Might want to give them a try. Great course.

Thanks everyone. I'll look into Ravisloe and Ruffled Feathers. The Glen's initiation is a bit too expensive.

A great one in south burb Frankfort is Prestwick...golf membership is only 15k...5k per year with the usual 150-200 per month at the club. There is no place as nice for that little cash....
Most are 50k inititiation to start...Beverly, Butterfield, Butler (100K?)
And Ruffled Feathers is not a PRIVATE course...in case that is what you were really lookng for

Heard Idlewild on the south side has a crazy man special- nice course, they just lost a lot of members the last couple of years due to the I-94 construction.

Correct, semi-private would be fine too.
What I'm hoping for are access to decent practice facilities, unlimited golf and a locker room. Not too concerned about the dining room, pool or dinner events. But would also love to have the course close enough so that I could sneak in an early morning or afternoon round during the weekdays. The difficult thing about living Downtown is that any good course is a decent drive.
Thanks!

How far are you willing to drive?
Most of the North Shore stuff is too expensive. All of the ones that fit your criteria are going to be 45 mins to a 1hour drive.

I was hoping to find something within 30-45 minutes. Unfortunately, that doesn't sound like it's a possibility.
Thanks for all of the input, I've already called a few of these places.
