okay so this week i'm with my parents on a little family vacation in ixtapa, mexico. it's a really nice town that's not overly touristy/americanized, and it's got two pretty good golf courses which i plan on playing. but that's not the kicker, the kicker is that it just so happens that lorena ochoa and annika sorenstam will be playing a skins match against each other at one of the courses here in town on saturday, and some friends that we have here in town have already arranged for us to get tickets. here i thought it was just gonna be another ho-hum vacation with some golf, and now i'll get to see the #1 and #2 female golfers play against each other. i also believe that lorena is gonna give a clinic before the round. seriously, does it get any luckier than this?

haha you know i just might have to...hopefully my luck continues onto the golf course...i have been on the range a lot lately but have not teed it up in the last two and a half weeks, and this is from a guy who plays at least 3 times a week during schooltime, and i'm smack dab in the middle of summer. the 2008 euro cup, ventura california in the summertime and high school buds coming home for summer have all kept me from the course, thank god that at least half of my friends play golf and are at the same skill level as me, so when we do tee it up, it's always guaranteed to be fun and challenging...plus since we're all 21, the high scorer can be publicly humiliated when he's buying the beers at the 19th hole.

Have fun - had the pleasure of watching both of them last week at the Open. A couple of class acts! Should be a fun match!

alright well i just got back last night, played two pretty good rounds of golf in perfect weather, then got to watch two of the best players in the world play on a really beautiful course, it was awesome. couple of sidenotes about their equipment (this is after all golfwrx), lorena plays a rapture with a diamana blueboard shaft, couldn't get close enough on the range to see what the weight was, but she was striping it, with draws and fades. also since on the range there weren't any markers closer than 100 yds, she had her caddy walk off 30, 40, and 50 yds, and she would hit pitches to him at each yardage, i think she hit about 15-20 balls at each distance, and nearly every ball would land about 2 feet in front of the caddy and stop at his feet. after that she then went to the chipping/putting green, and holed out her first pitch she hit from the rough, there was a thin rope surrounding it to keep the "unruly fans" from disturbing her, but she was actually using it to practice, she would hit a few pitches under it to the green, and then hit some lobs over it. annika uses a graphite design tour ad shaft in her driver, not really sure which one, it's blue and black, with those stripes towards the end of the grip, like the quattrotech shafts, but i looked on the site and none of the new ones are blue and black, so i think it might be an older model. also, in her 3 wood she was using a shaft that had absolutely no labeling or graphics on it whatsoever. it looked like a project x satin shaft but without the graphic, it just looked like a silver shaft, but because it was satin and stepless i couldn't tell whether it was graphite or steel. does anybody know what it is? they were both putting pretty well overall, lorena had a few unfortunate lipouts. also on the 15th hole, annika pulled an iron shot left of the green onto this hill where i was standing and her ball hit a guy sitting on the hill no less than 2 feet from where i was standing, she came up, asked if he was alright, then after she finished the hole, tossed him the ball...if only i had known i would've dove into the ball. all in all, it was a very good day, and i'm pretty sure i lost about 10 pounds in the extreme heat and humidity running around the course, so double bonus!!!
