I don't think so, probably was on his B game.

He hit some great shots the approach to number 12 was awesome.

Anyways, Tiger had his A game in the putting dept and short game and that was the difference.

Of course if all 4 rounds were on the South if would be no contest.

I think Phil's prior knowledge no longer applies since he can't buy a par putt when he needs it.

Torrey, The Old Course, and Augusta all are Taylor Made for Tiger. He right there with the longest bombers, noone touches him in the iron game, except for VJ. Its his putter, that seperates him from the other top 5.

VJ can't match in the putter, Retief can putt with Tiger, but isn't as long(1 or 2 clubs shorter). Ernie seems to yank one OB every once and a while. And Phil if he relying on the short game means he's not hitting greens and also not saving par.

The young bombers out there can't match the iron and short game that the top 5 have. So they have to rely on a hot putter and luck especially on the tough courses out there.

The courses the field can beat Tiger are the birdie feast course such as the tourney in Palm Springs.

He showed some grace on Saturday by finding the fairway quiet often and squeezing out a nice 5 under when most everyone else was running in place.

In my humble opinion, Tiger hasn't produced his A game for some time. Probably not since 2000. He does from time to time for a round or so, but not for a tournament. I have an inkling in my mind though that it might be around quite a bit this year. Big year coming - you heard it here first. biggrin.gif

What tournament were you watching? Tiger putted absolutely horrible. He made one clutch putt to get into the playoff. Here are the stats to prove it.

He was tied for 114th in total putts per round
He was tied for 113th in average putts per GIR
He was tied for 22nd in total putts per GIR

His stats really were not overwhelming but he managed to get the job done.

6th in driving distance (he was beat by fred couples)
tied for 63rd in fairways hit. (only hit 1 in the first round) Needs to junk that SQ
tied for 17th in GIR. not bad for being 63rd in fairways hit

There is not really a stat that says he should have won this tournament but he ground it out and managed to beat players who outplayed him but couldn't outscore him.

When Tiger shows up with his A game he'll beat the field by at least 10 strokes.

There some good stats kklick.

Tiger putted horrible and drove the horrible and still managed to get the job done.

If Tiger brought his A game for a whole 4 rounds he would win the tournement by 15 and that includes all the other top 5 players playing there best.
Now dont think im just a massive tiger fan because im not but he is just that much better then everyone else on tour.

Now last year he had six wins including two majors without what is in your opinion his "A" game. And I'm not disagreeing with you. Tiger is definitely capable of playing better golf and HE KNOWS IT! Now if you are a tour player that kind of a daunting thought.

After all what happens when Tiger REALLY gets in lock in?
