Can anyone fill me in as to the best time to list an article on eBay. I have heard Friday at 6:30pm EST. What makes this a good time versus say a Sunday evening when everyone has finished watching golf or on a Monday morning when everyone is at work.

I searched eBay and did not find anything, but I am sure that they have stats as to when most items sell and what times yield the best prices.

I think it depends on length, but making sure that it ends on a thursday or friday night would be best, just because it's around pay day for most, which means if they have disposable cash, that's the best time to grab them.

I also happen to think that the actual time, not just day, is also important as you want to make sure it doesn't end at midnight or something since you always get higher bids when people are up and competing wink.gif

That's just my opinion comming from a buyers perspective

The best time IMO is to do a 7 day sunday night to sunday night ad.....

I am a fan of the Sunday night theory.

Why??

I find that when I list/buy on ebay that the majority of the bidding happens during the last 4-5 hours. If this is true you don't have to worry about most people being at work/school.

If they are like me they are home relaxing wating the final round!

IMOP Friday mid afternoon is the best for ending because people are at work bored and ready to go play some golf. and they have nothing to do but surf ebay. Plus its payday and someone always wants to add to their bag.

I just list it at like 9 PM EST so that everyone has an equal oppurtunity to bid. Like someone in Cal. it would only be 6 PM. Just do a 7 day listing. Doesn't really matter when you list it. Wed.-Wed., Sat.-Sat., Mon.-Mon. I mean a weeks a week. Does not matter. I sell stuff on eBay all the time.

To each his own......

I like Saturday nights because.....

A) Its the day after payday for many.
B) Most folks are at home.
C) The bidding at work theory is a myth since many corporations have a firewall that blocks Ebay at Work (know from experience)
D) More internet traffic in general on Saturday and Sunday.

I try to stick to Saturday to Saturday and a low opening bid and no reserve. Its like shootin' fish in a barrel. Don't get worried about it if you have a low opening bid or no reserve. If it is worth it, it will bring it on Ebay. I usually start my auctions at $0.99 per club with no reserve and always use USPS Priority mail for shipping (2-3 days delivery in the US guaranteed). Needless to say, I have all positive feedback.

I like to start my auctions at a certain time like 10 pm EST so that when it ends, it ends at 10 on the east coast and 7 pm on the west coast which allows people to get home from work. Also I never have my auctions end on friday, saturday, or sunday because people go out those nights and don't usually check Ebay those nights. Monday through Thursday are the best days to have your auctions end. Depending on the item, a 5 day listing is plenty long and allows people to watch it without losing interest because of the length of time. I have been selling on Ebay for a while now and have earned a Powerseller ranking.

I have found that Sun-Sun ending at about 7:00 PM Eastern time works best for the most coverage! People are home and Fri/Sat your listing rises to the top, if they are sorting by "ending first"

One mans opinion!!

the "general" public goes out on friday and saturday nights, no matter if they have a family, if they are young or old, people like to enjoy their weekend, and typically that doesn't include spending time on the computer on ebay. On Sunday nights, places are closed, people are getting ready for the week to come and generally are at home. BY FAR sunday night is the best time to have auctions end. You'll normally notice that those that get the most vaule for their items sell on sunday evenings

I usually list on Thursday afternoon or Friday. It is best if you can time the auction ending around a 1st or 15th...Payday!

Im a fan of the 9:00 PM Sunday night theory.

I am a PowerSeller on eBay and I prefer to have my auctions end at either 7 or 8pm PST on Sundays. I live in the Midwest, which is 10 or 11pm my time, and this gives both coasts a chance to catch my item. I used to work at a golf shop and listed on eBay for over a year at all different times and days before figuring that this was the best time to have auctions end. I also like to start my auctions on Thursday and run a 10 day auction to give people 2 weekends to possibly see my item. I don't do this on all my auctions. Sometimes I just run Sunday to Sunday if it is not anything "super special". You must also pay attention to what is going on the day and time that your auction is ending. For example, the majority of my auctions this week are ending on Saturday since the SuperBowl is on Sunday. This may be a great time to buy!! I have noticed that a good day during the week to end an auction is Thursday night. I'm not an "eBay expert", these are just things that I have noticed since I started selling.

DITTO THAT! I generally try to end my auctions midday Friday -

* people are at WORK on Friday (generally), and
* surfing the internet, and goofing off. They're ready for the weekend and talking about clubs.
* The workday is more relaxed, and......
* you can cover all time zones if you end your auctions midday Friday.
* Generally you have a faster internet connection at work which makes bidding easier (for me at least!)
* I'm not sure how many people surf on Fri/Sat/Sun nights. I would think they're out partying, relaxing at home, or getting ready for work the next day (sun).

I have found that three day auctions, ending on Sunday evening seem to work best for me. This information has not been approved by the FDA, your results may vary.

I've always tried to end mine on Sunday evenings. wink.gif
