I heard Ravens Claw is not in good shape this year and havent played the others....any quick recs?

Thanks!

I am not a huge fan of Raven's claw...I have played it several times thinking that I may learn to like it eventually but the result is always the same. It just feels like a somewhat stale golf course with no particular style or pattern. I would have to suggest that you go play Turtle Creek, even though it is nothing spectacular I do believe that it is the most fun/challenging course on the list you provided. Hope this helps!

I live in florida now, but how about Hickory Valley, that was the course to play when I lived up there. The best course I thought was that one that the school took care of.........The golf course at Glen Mills....That was the deal. those 2 were always in great condition.

Hope this helps.

Bella vista. when i lived there last year it was my favorite course. great friendly service, great looking girls in the grill, tough track that requires shot making over bombing.

If you are limiting your courses to those 3, then definitely Turtle Creek and pass on the other two.

Bella Vista for sure... I would second the recommedation for Hickory Valley too.

Turtle Creek isn't worth the $ they charge. Bella Vista is nice. Raven's Claw is the best of the three in my opinion. The Presidential course at Hickory Valley is also nice.

I am a member at Ravens Claw and yes the conditions were not to good about a month or so ago, but they just got a lot better. A bunch a people complained about the greens, they are fixed now and roll pretty true. The Fairways are in good shape and rough is pretty challenging. Turtle Creek is one of my favs also. All 3 of those are good, cannot really go wrong with any of those. Just dont go to Pickering Valley i despise that course and think that it is totally dumb

Thanks for the replies guys, I didnt see them until after I had to play (7:00 AM yesterday). Ended up playing the Claw because I had played there before and wasnt sure about the other two. Course was in good condition and I enjoyed the round! Would have liked to play somewhere else, but like I said didn't want to be disappointed with out recs from you guys.

So, what would be the top courses in that area next time I'm around?

did you enjoy the 240 yd par 3 17? i never do haha

Hickory Valley's Presidential course is no joke, tiny fairways, fast greens and requires good shot placement. Ambassador is a good beginners track.

I don't know what you guys are talking about with Raven's Claw, course is long and tough and also requires good shaping skills with needed shot placement ability.

Turtle Creek is nice and offers a challenging European links style front 9 and a tough American style back 9. Always a good time.

Bella Vista poses lots of problems because of it's elevation changes from tee to green on every hole and you will not find a flat lie anywhere other than the tee box.

up the 422 coridor, those 4 are the best courses in the area I don't agree with the prices some of them stiff you for but, if you want to play you must pay.

I agree, PICKERING VALLEY needs to be bulldozed. Hole 17 is an absoulute mess and they haven't a clue as to cut a fairway to seperate it from the rough.

Skippack is a hidden gem but hole 13 makes the course undesirable.

Limerick - Absolute joke - holes 10, 11, 12, are outright insults to golf course design!!
Spring Hollow - The next Valley Forge Golf Course!!! - Bulldozed and Sold for upscale shopping and housing.
Linfield National - Firing Range - newly desinged 16th and 17th holes are putrid.
JeffersonVille - Best course in Norristown/Jeffersoneville area.
Ft.Washington at Shannondell - 10 doglegs not a bad spend.
Westover - Kinf of Boring but good for the price, at times this course can be dry as a bone.
Broad Run (Tattersall) - Whew boy, is this course magnificent!!!! Absolutly love to play here!. Stunning views and blast with the GPS equipped golf carts!!!
Glen Mills - Untouchable, this is the best course in the area and I am talking Ace Club, Merion, Aronimink, Gulph Mills, good!!

There are an abundance of courses in the area but the thing is most of them are private.

haha i actually love that hole, the two times I played it I got on and 3 putted (ahhh!) and yesterday was left of the pin and got up and down. My 2h is the perfect club for that hole. Very scary though, anything right is dead.
