I've never heard of a "Golf Watch". I saw Tin Cup a few days ago for the first time, and in the first meeting between the Doc and Tin Cup they were going through all her infomercial crap. One of the items that was really harped on was a golf watch. I've heard of golf themed watches you could buy for 5 bucks at Wally World, but what's so special about a "golf watch"? I can see buying a good dive watch due to it's durability and you know for a fact it won't stop working if it rains, but what would a "golf watch" do for you? I've always been told to take off all watches and jewelry before taking a swing.

It depends on how much you want to spend. Some have actual golf functions and some are just endorsed by TW.

Yes there are golf watches but he was only making fun of her is all in the movie. I have seen this movie a million times I used to have it playing in my simulator when i was a Gold Pro on the ships.

Hmm, just went to Tiger's website and all the photos I saw of him on the course he isn't wearing said watch that "...will never bother a golfer during the swing." I find that very interesting. Anyway, I have one of those Citizen Eco-Drive Dive watches. I just clip it on my bag when I play so that the battery can charge while I enjoy a good round. As far as the Sunnto watch, I'm not really sure about all of that. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. I have no idea. Is it legal to wear during a round? Seems like a good idea.

Anyway, I don't think the one in Tin Cup was one of these Suuntoes. Besides the Suuntoes, are there golf watches actually serve a purpose?

However, even Callaway has golf watches. Do they serve a purpose besides tell time? Do they help your swing? I don't know. Every watch I've seen that says "insert activity" watch, they actually have a function to help you. Besides the Suunto, I haven't seen any difference between a "golf" watch and a regular watch.

I think you can be fairly confident the golf watch she was wearing (if they bothered actually finding one) was probably golf clubs for hands (driver for seconds, 5 iron for minutes and wedge for hours) on top of a golf ball looking face.

So, they are just all golf themed watches.

I know TAG made that Tiger Woods-endorsed thing that had the twizzly winder-upper on the opposite side to normal. So it didn't stick into your hand when you swung.

Despite my disdain for TAG Heuer, I will concede that the Professional Golf Watch is a novel design and exceptionally comfortable to wear. While it doesn't have any features that pretain directly to golf, it was definitely designed with golfers (or active individuals in general) in mind. A RONDA Cal. 1005 (10.5''' x 1.90mm) cased in titanium reduces the case thickness and overall weight (55g, If I recall correctly), the orientation of the crown as well as the intergration of the clasp into the case further improves ergonomics, the movement is, for all intents and purposes, impervious to shock and acceleration generated by swings, and the silicone strap is unaffected by sweat. That said, I'd still never buy one--I harbor a passionate dislike of quartz movements and the orientation of the crown does nothing for those who wear their watch on their right wrist (like myself).

I have a Callaway watch and it has no special golf function. But it feels fine to wear during play as I do.

If you don't like a quartz watch what do you like ?

I prefer mechanical watches. While they can't hold a candle to quartz's accuracy, they are, in my opinion, much more interesting.
