I saw the catalog today. I would say there was some good, bad and ugly. Quick background.. I have posted many times about classics. I have more than 40 pairs (43 actually). I love golf shoes. Some guys are tour club hoes, i'm a golf shoe ho, especially classics. Anyway the head pro at my club called me today and told me he got in the new catalog, being that he knows im obsessed with classics, he told me to swing by and come look at them. First the good: FJ has a new color for the lizard inlay models (the shoe with the wavy line running down the side and into the toes) it will be a white pair with a cherry red inlay. There is an all black pair of patent leather with the cap toe. There is a new style of all whites that have a square toe (FJ used to call this the bicycle toe). There is a great pair of traditional white pebeal shoes (bumpy texure surface) that have dark brown gator print running up from the bottom towards the laces. There are a few others, but these stood out the most. For the bad: FJ made a pair of white shoes with a pink saddle. I was not a fan. There was a pair of all black shoes with a split red saddle on the side running to the heel. For the Ugly: it is hard to describe but they tried a new take on the red white and blue shoe. I loved the old one (red and blue patent leather with a cap toe). This one is a white shoe with a red saddle and a blue saddle is stacked on the red one, then there are three rings cut out in the middle of the sandal to reveal the white leather underneath. They did this with a black shoe as well. My buddies think i'm a little nuts with my shoes, but i would never wear a shoe like that. The best for last. The custom exotics are SWEET..tons of options with a rainbow of colors. It is hard to remember all the shoes, so i hope you get a chance to see them soon. Remember have a little fun with your clothes out there. There is no rule that says you can only wear brown saddle shoes and navy polo shirts.

PS- They do have two new Classics with the BOA lacing system that will be available later in the year.
PSS- When you see where we've written a c/o next to it, it means that it is a carryover from this last years catalog.

Ken,

The catalog photos are much appreciated.

Does anybody know if there is any possible way to put a Classics Dry Premiere shoe on a Classics Tour sole?? I would pay some SERIOUS money for the following combo:

Hey Titleist1455,

Have you had both the classics dry premiere and the tour classics? I was wondering if the sole of the tour classics actually make a huge difference in comfort. I have the classics dry premiere and I currently don't have any issues with the flexibility and stability of the sole.

Anyone else want to chime in about the differences between the tour and the dry premieres?

Thanks.

Which Classics Dry Premier models (s) do you have ?
If they are more than 4-5 years old they were made on one of FJ's older lasts.
These days FJ is using a newer last called "Classic Laser" on most of the Dry Premier and Tour model shoes.
More than anything else, the last is the most significant differentiating factor amongst all FJ Classics, Classic Dry Premier, and Classics Tour shoes.
The model number of your Dry Premiers is on the inside lining of the shoe (or on the box if you still have that). Do a search at FJ or google to find your shoes and the last model name will be revealed. Once you have the last name you can check that last's description at FJ's web site (customer service section) and that will give you an idea of the difference in the shape of your existing shoes versus the shape of most all new Dry Premier's and Tour's.

Regarding Classics Dry Premier versus Classics Tour, here are my observations:

1) Tour sole is significantly lighter weight (this is likely the primary concept behind introducing the Tour model).

2) Dry Premier sole (leather) offers better touch/feel with the ground than does the Tour sole. The Tour sole is primarily made of EVA, an airy rubber material found in old style jogging shoes. EVA is extremely strong and resilient to depression, which is why EVA is used instead of polyurethane (which degrades with time). So, the EVA rubber on the Tour sole means there is a cushioning effect between your feet and the ground. This cushioning offers less touch and feel (with the ground) as compared to the Classics Dry Premier leather sole.

3) Stability-wise, both the Dry Premier and Tour models use a welt construction which keeps the upper tightly attached to the sole. Both models also use the same high grade leather which holds its shape very well. The welt construction and leather make both models comparable in terms of stability during the swing. This is the biggest advantage Dry Premiers and Tours have over all other FJ models and other golf shoe brands. That is, stability throughout the swing. However, to recognize these stability benefits the player needs to have the precisely correct size fitting shoe. Both models are available from A width narrow through multiple EEEE extra wide sizes.

4) To hold their shape well both these models need to be cleaned regularly and stored with correctly sized shoe tree's.

Thanks Frozen Rope. I have the Classic Laser last and I love the feel that I get from it. I ditched my other shoes because of all the feel and response I get from the leather last. Weight isn't really a problem so I'll stick with the dry premieres.

You're info helped a lot!
frozen_rope
Plastic,

A shoe "last" is the wooden (or plastic) piece of equipment from which a shoe is manufactured (or "lasted").
A shoe last looks similar to a shoe tree and a factory uses a different "last" for each size shoe. A worker places a leather piece over the last, and that is how the leather is shaped into the form of a shoe. Next the shoe upper is stitched (welted) to the sole. Once the upper is attached to the sole, the shoe last is removed.

Right now FJ uses the same lasts to make both the Classic Dry Premier and the Classics Tour model shoes. FJ named the last "Classics Laser".

In other words, a Dry Premier and a Classics Tour model will fit and feel the same because they're both made on the same last at the factory.

Professor
While it is true that the Classics and Classic Tours SHOULD fit the same since they are built on the same last, my experience with both is a bit different. I find the Tours fit just a touch wider. A 9D is perfect in Classics, but all my Tours a 9D is just a touch big when they break in. Dont know if it is the sole or what, but there is definitely a difference. Just an FYI.
plasticeyes
how much lighter is the tour than the dry premiere?

Yea..mine thinks its insane. This addiction started about 5 years ago when I bought my first pair of classics (they were white with a brown lizard saddle). They looked great and were so comfortable that i bought another pair a few weeks later. Then the disease began. Also, the owner of golflocker.com is a member at the course i belong to. By the way there is a brick and morter store GolfLocker..it is like walking into Footjoy heaven! Tell your wife not to worry, there are many guys who seems to have this plag.

great pics, is there anyway we could see the pics of the exotics?? what materials are available this year?
Big A HG
Saw many of the new shoes in person when the rep came the other day. We were his first visit with the new line.

There's a new shoe called the Syner-g. Has memory foam and actually uses materials used on the classics. Basically a glorified DryJoy for around 200. They are pretty sharp though.

There are a few new DryJoy designs as well. I'm not a huge fan of classics as they are not that comfortable in comparison to DryJoys, but if you want to spend a lot of money to have something different, just to have something different...they're perfect.

There isn't an exotic leather (ie lizard, croc, etc) available in white. However, you can have a classic made custom with either smooth or pebble grain leather in a number of different formats with any sole. The MSRP on the shoes is $445- although our retail would be less than $400 on such a shoe.

Good news: yes, we can make a style in the Classic Dry Premiere with a Tour outsole (and vice versa). It's a custom made shoe and carries a retail cost of $399.99 (with a MSRP of $445).

Bad news: Foot-Joy is currently quoting October ship dates for any custom work. We'd be happy to help in any way at 888.988.FORE.

I noticed that some of the shoes that are in the catalog are not on the site yet, so looking at a catalog give a better idea until the site is complete.
