Watching Tiger and Phil play together, and the huge galleries, and the lower radar Guys like Rocco and Stewart, and putts rolling in for a change is fantastic! I've jumped out of my seet a few times allready, and it's only Friday. And Ernie is playing well, too. Is anyone else as excited as I have been?

I like it too, the course is playing tough but fair and rewards good shots. I like it that guys can go for the green alot out of the rough but it is very difficult, I am not a fan of hit a drive into the rough automatic pitch out. shaping up to be a great weekend.

i agree, i also think the coverage has been excellent, just seems like there is a great vibe goin on there, hopefully make for an awesome weekend, i think the course will get harder and the scores higher, but your right putting tiger and phil together was perfect

i loved watching today. The course is playing tough, but not too tough. Par is protected, but their are still birdies to be had. It seems like a real fair set up with graduated penalty depending on how bad you hit it

Great tournament to watch. It seems like the USGA really got the course right for this one.

I just hope it doesn't become a blowout snoozefest with 1 guy leading by a significant margin the last 2 days. I wanna see a nailbiter come the back nine on Sunday.

The USGA has a new "set up man", and I give him straight As so far. Tough course, but room for aggressive play.

Lovin it!
I really like how they were able to change the way a hole plays just from switching tee boxes...not just longer...it seems like it plays completely different.

Perfect. (For a course directly on the Pacific ocean, and not in the tropics.)
I love the variety they put in to it. -Lots of personality.
Should be insane galleries Saturday and Sunday!
On my to-do-list for my San Diego visit later this summer.

You know there's only one guy who could blow out the field...And watching that guy yesterday, chances are he's gonna do just that on the weekend.

Best US Open since 2000, and solely because Tiger is playing well.
But as someone posted earlier, this US Open is getting better than the Masters!
How many eagles at this year's Masters? - 19....at Torrey thru 3 days: already 15
How many birdies at the Masters? - 758...a whopping 843 thru Saturday at the US Open!!
The move by the Masters to toughen up the course was the wrong way and the USGA apparently saw that too, and went for hard but fair for this year's US Open. Maybe the Masters will follow suit next year...

BEST EVER ! I love the US Open 2008.
I started to like Phil in the first round..... especially when he gave a little girl a ball on the way out from a hole (2nd round that was...). But then I watched him collapse and was disappointed (his mental aspect is way lower than Tiger's, plus his stupid move of taking the driver out that made him lose distances).
Tiger is still the best.... just amazing, just a human highlight reel!
Made watching golf on TV as good as watching other sports, if not better!

The 1999 US Open was my favorite until this one. Great drama, my favorite place in the world (I used to live in SD), and the best player showed that with a bad wheel, he still can beat anyone that is healthy.
Payne knocking out Phil was great but this was about ten times better. I don't think I've ever watched so much tv in a week before. I still have yet to blink since Thursday morning.

The best.
My one annoyance was a little rant i Heard Eric issilias (spelling?) go off on on espn radio about the playoff being 18 holes and how it was better for the game then doing a sudden death sunday. He said that it was better than sudden death because it wasn't as fickle as one hole and left less up to chance, he also said spectators needed to suck it up if they couldn't watch monday.
IMO I think he is a jerk, if it were not for spectators there would be no professional sports, sports are for the spectators. And in the end it ended up being sudden death that decided it anyway. They should have done it with a sudden death sunday but other than that it was great!

Best golf tournament and major I've ever seen. Glad Tiger won, but would have been just as happy if Rocco won. He gave El Tigre all he could handle and a little bit more. Nice to see someone make him earn it, but also one of the least likely...great drama!

First of all, this was the Best Major I have ever seen, PERIOD. Nothing compares to a guy ranked 158 standing toe to toe with the best player ever and taking him to not only one, but two playoffs. In the end, the best player won, but I have the utmost respect and admiration for Rocco and I sincerely hope he can win a couple tournaments this year as he is most definitely great for the game.
Not to jack this thread but to answer/defend Eric Kuselias you obviously have not heard him much more than just today as he is one of the best to ever appear on ESPN. He is paid to give his opinions and to give strong opinions, if you want wussy commentary then don't listen to talk radio. You can agree or disagree with his point, but I agree with him, if you are a true fan you will find a way to watch it, I know I did.

Great theatre and I actually liked the whole "prime time" broadcasts due to the left Coast time zone......very exciting. With the exception of the '86 Masters, this was golf at it's finest. It still would have been just as good with Rocco and Lefty, or maybe even better with Tiger and Lefty, but Rocco really made you root for the underdog. With that said....however, nothing beats Nicklaus' charge on the back nine on Sunday at Augusta in '86. That was unbelievable.

Well, nothing I can say about TW's W. This guy just did it again on 18th, sinking a clutch birdie putt then forcing a playoff of the playoff. Rocco is a true fighter and such a nice guy.
I personally think it is the second best major i've seen on TV with the first being the 2005 Master's. The atmosphere today was a bit different though.
Not sure if anyone of you have noticed that the flower band on Tiger's driver shaft was gone, albeit I'm quite sure it is still a white board. It happened to the blueborad before too; well maybe Tiger found the flower band annoying at address so he wanted a prototype shaft that is "flower free"...i checked getty quite a few times but didn't really see the flower band...

Loved it. Best U.S. Open I can remember. The venue and setup, the players, the drama--everything was perfect. Not the best performance I've seen but it was great TV. Makes up for the snoozefest of a Masters and the 18 (+1) was much more exciting than the gimmick extra hole at the Players.
Hoping Tiger's knee gets well for the British, when we'll likely see him next I wager. Also hoping Rocco's back holds up and that he continues to play at such a level. He's terrific for the game.

I was there on Saturday and Sunday at the 18th green when Tiger made the eagle and birdie putt to force the playoff respectively. I thought the USGA did a great job setting up the event and I loved the remote LCD monitors that American Express provided where you can watch the NBC coverage and also other camera coverages. On Sunday I made sure to save the batteries on my LCD monitor device until Tiger tees off so I can just stay on the 18th green and still keep track of how Tiger and others are doing. At the 18th grand stand I was the only one around me that had the device so I was giving live updates on how Woods, Westwood, and Mediate are doing to everyone around me.
The only complain I have is the company handling the concessions, I thought the food was below average and very expensive. I wouldn't mind spend the same amount of money if the food was at least fairly decent like at the FBR Open and with a lot of varieties.
But overall I had an amazing experience; all the waitings, sun burns, and money spent was all worth it.

No question (for me) that this was Tiger's best win at a Major ever, and it was one of the finest televised golf events for a long time - we may never see something this compelling again, but with Tiger, who knows - he may be able to easily top this and then some! He far from being done.
It's ironic, but on Thursday, I ordered the Scotty Cameron US Open 2008 head cover, and I now own (and have ordered) every Scotty head cover commomerating Tiger's every Major victories since 2006: British 2006, PGA 2006 & 2007, and now US Open 2008. For whatever reason, I skipped ordering the covers for the recent Masters, US Open, & British where Tiger did not win - an incredible coincidence.
I was thinking as it appeared that Tiger appeared to be losing on the 17th today that "it's OK, this US Open 2008 cover will still be special to me because Rocco is such a nice and special guy", but in the end, it all worked out fine

I was so fortunate to be able to work from home today, and I was not able to remove myself from the TV, except for bio breaks, answering emails, and taking the few obligatory calls - it does not get any better than this!

Absolutely, Positively, AWESOME and flat out inspirational. Tiger and Rocco. Two very different styles of play clashing, and the great thing about golf...there is more than one way to win at this game.
Rocco's play was just fantastic and while he lost, he became part of history. I'm sure no golf fan that was alive forgot Hogan at Merion....no one is going to forget this one either.

I thought this Open was fantastic! Rocco did an amazing job as well as Tiger. Watching them battle it out, back and forth was memorable and they will go down in golf history together. I was excited for Tiger and heartbroken for Rocco at the same time.
